Fantasy Buddy Reads discussion

This is a Buddy Read for Exit Strategy by Martha Wells. Follow the first three threads for start date indications.

Ahhhh I can't wait to start this.. But I'm also kind of scared to start it too xD

Finished! I managed to binge read through it this afternoon~

The long-awaited reunion has finally happened! Could have been under much better circumstances but honestly, I think it kind of had to happen this way because I'm almost positive that Murderbot would have found a way to talk itself out of approaching them one way or another. I mean, it almost did that anyway, despite the situation with Mensah. Clearly, fate knew it needed a push lol

Also, I'm pretty sure I'll never get tired of Murderbot flailing through emotions. That's always fun to watch - kind of gives me a mixture of adorable awkwardness and slight second-hand embarrassment haha. But Mensah and her team were so understanding about it! Respecting Murderbot's boundaries and everything! I just love these people so much <3

I did struggle a bit in reading it though. I had a hard time trying to picture how things looked like, and there points when I had to stop and reread the last paragraph or so just to make sure I actually understood what I was reading. But I'm pretty sure that's on me as a reader...?

'tis a pity ART didn't get to show up again, although I did enjoy the strong hint of the people from the previous book having the chance to reappear in Murderbot's life again. The last chapter was a little confusing at first, disjointed like, but I think it was a pretty effective way to show how Murderbot's mental (?) functions had been so badly damaged. Not going to lie, it vaguely reminded me of Miki, which kind of terrified me. (hide spoiler)]

I have plans to read the next short story (about Dr Mensah, I believe?) then tackle the next in the series. At some point. Honestly, I'm kind of scared, seeing as it's a whole proper novel. Ohh, maybe ART will turn up again? That'd be awesome. (Because seriously, ART cannot be relegated to a single book alone... right??)

I'm planning on starting this one on Thursday!

MURDERBOT MIGHT BE GETTING A TV ADAPTATION--!!!!!!!!!!

Hey! I'm so sorry, I tried to read the 4th novella, but I have such an aversion to reading right now 🙈 I've only been listening to audiobooks for the past weeks and didn't want to pick up any physical books... Unfortunately, I'm going to have to bail on this buddy read, I'm sorry 😔

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that. But it's alright! Reading is meant to be a fun thing so you shouldn't have to push yourself to do it when you don't feel like it. It's been fun anyway and I'm glad we made it this far haha~ Maybe we can do another buddy read in the future if the chance comes up? ^u^
