Parker Boyes (boyestrous) | 5 comments Hey Everyone!

I'm looking for an app to help me keep track of my reading progress. I've found that Goodreads is great for tracking my shelves, but that tracking a count of books is a bit clunky. Books are different sizes and it can be discouraging for me to finish "only" one book, even if that book was 1000+ pages!

Does anyone recommend an app or website to help them track their reading stats?

Thanks!

Sherrise Goodread also shows # of pages, # of books per month and # of pages per month. But if you are looking for more/different there is Storygraph which shows genre, mood etc. You can import your Goodreads into Storygraph. It isn't an app as it's in beta but there are instructions on how to add the website to your phone which behaves like an app.

Nicole | 97 comments I know that feeling. Thats why I put my reading goal this year in *pages read* not *books read*.
I'm using the *stats* page here for that. You can find it in *My books* on top, next to *settings*.

Paula Greenfield | 27 comments I keep a paper list of all the books I read on the list I keep the date I finished, the number of pages and the time it took me to read it. If the book is read over several days I keep a piece of paper in the book noting the times that I read it, then add the times together to get a grand total for each book. It's something if you can't find an app to do what you want it to.

Paula, this is exactly what I'm looking for, but I have also struggled to find an app to track it for me.

Thank you for your advice!

Nicole, I didn't know that existed, thank you for pointing me in that direction!

Thank you, Sherrise! I'll have to check Storygraph out too!

What kinds of data points do you track? I've also been keeping a spreadsheet and I just keep date/time + start and end pages.

Well, I'm noting down all books I read bit over 27 years now, so I keep it fairly simple - full name of author; if any, then name of series; book name; genre; pages.
It's only now I'm thinking of changing the system (and will probably take inspiration from this discussion :) ) as the volume of books I read in last few years dramatically dropped and I'm trying to inspire/challenge myself to read more. :)

I've used the BookBuddy app in the past which I really liked- free in the App store. The Pro version has a 7 day free trial, then has some different options for subscription packages.

I liked that it has lots of ways to check your reading stats and results like total time read, your reading speed, the estimated book finish time, can set yourself monthly/ yearly goals, create custom books collections and generally manage all reading of your e-books, audiobooks and books.

Curlotte (dzejn_crvena) | 7 comments online website: THE STORY GRAPH
beta.thestorygraph.com
very personalized stats

phone app: READ MORE..
I'd love to share a screenshot but I don't know how.
I imported data from Goodreads there.
The stats show the duration (in minutes & percentage) and number of pages you spent reading per day, week, month and year.
If you use the premium, you can add as many folders/shelves as you want!
The creator is very responsive, too.
I never stopped using it since I discovered it last year.
Very easy to use.

Casey (caseylynn218) | 5 comments You can also see some of your stats on Goodreads if you click on your profile and then click on "your year in books" for 2020. Once there you can click on "see next year" at the top and it will show you lots of interesting stats about what you've read this year.

Casey (caseylynn218) | 5 comments This shows things like shortest/longest, highest rated, your average length and rating, most and least popular, etc.

Ron | 2708 comments I'm not one for apps. Those I can't really keep track of and forget. I do keep charts though and spreadsheets via Word & Excel. I've gotten pretty good at remembering to do them every time I finish a new book.

These are the categories I keep:

-Monthly Reading List
-Pages Read
-Reads (how many books I've read vs. the ones I have not)
-Genres
-Rating

*****

It may seem like a lot but it works.

I'm even planning to add in a new category of Years Published.

Erica (ericareadslibros) | 3 comments I bought an excel spreadsheet from one of my favorite book podcasts: https://www.sarahsbookshelves.com/
She created this herself and it's pretty extensive for recording your reading stats
