'The Japanese phenomenon that teaches us the simple yet profound lessons required to liberate our real selves and find lasting happiness. The Courage to be Disliked shows you how to unlock the power within yourself to become your best and truest self, change your future and find lasting happiness.'

I know this book is different from what we usually read here but lets try some self-care/self-love for April. If this book is not something you would like to join in reading then don't worry you are always welcome to join in for May's read.
Happy reading and practice self-care this April :)

Hello everyone, how did you enjoy this month's read? All comments are welcome but here's a few starter questions on this book:
1. What rating did you give this book?
2. Have you read any self help books before?
3. Would you re-read this book or delve further into this genre?
4. Did you get what you was expecting from this book?
5. What did you think of the author's choice to layout their ideas in the form of a conversation.

p.s don't forget to vote for next months book on the main page! :)

1. Rating 4 stars, I read this book quite quickly and after reflecting back on it I think it really was more a a 3 stars, especially after looking at some of the notes I wrote down. However its’ good to see when I finished this book it made a positive impression.

2. I have read a few, I certainly isn’t a genre I would reach for everyday of the week but sometimes when I feel I need top up my metaphorical cup of positivity I do enjoy reading some Matt Haig.

3. No, even though I did enjoy this read I feel I got what it is offering.

4. I was a little disappointed because I had come to this book with the idea of improving myself esteem. I do feel like this book has a very misleading title and had I of known it was mostly centred around Western Adlerian psychology I probably wouldn’t of read it. I found many positives in this book that I will certainly carry with me but I didn’t enjoy the victim blaming at all. I hear what the author is saying, but I don’t agree with it and I think we are more complex than this book can lead us to believe. But i enjoyed taking away some good points and leaving what doesn’t serve me.

5. At first this really irked me, I found it very condescending and annoying. I’m glad I carried on with this book though because I appreciate that this is a very easy way to understand what’s trying to be explained as it helps put a realistic view of everyday life struggles into a format that I can digest. It’s worth a thought too that the translation can effect text.
