Hi Jessica! I agree, a lot depends on the narrator when listening to the audiobook! A couple of times I started listening to the audiobooks and switched over to the paperbacks, because I couldn't understand anything or simply didn't like the voice.
Tell us when (if?) you finish it, did you like it after all.

I started reading the book. It is interesting so far. One thing is curious - as of course I knew first about the movie, I tried to imagine Cary Grant as John, but I can't. My fault, I do not remember the movie itself, I watched it probably twenty years ago. I just do not see Cary Grant as a gymnast capable of parkour or any stealthy activity! I'll probably regret saying this after watching the movie :) Your thoughts? If there is any chance of remake, who would you cast in the Le Chat role?
I am almost done with the book. It is so exciting now, I had to force myself to quit reading last night after I saw it was three in the morning!

I also hope to watch the movie this weekend! I finished the book last night. Even though it was a tiny bit corny how it has all wrapped so well for everyone, I liked the book. Just what I was looking for at the moment: a feel-good light read with a bit of mystery and romance.

I watched the movie last night. It was a bit slow start and a bit light on suspense too, but it didn't matter, because Grace Kelly was so enchanting, true delight to watch. I think Cary Grant was in awe too!
The only thing that was a bit weird was how they tried to pass Danielle as a teenager, when it was obvious she wasn't. Cary Grant was way older than Grace, but considering how well and healthy he was looking, does the age difference really matter? The scenery was stunning too! The stars and the scenery both compensated immensely for the lack of the real plot.
I wonder who would now be capable to play Robie and Francie. Cary and Grace were so great it's difficult to imagine anyone else.

I hope you'll all like this Hitchcock's caper movie :) It has everything one should like in a movie - romance, mystery, lavish costumes, and gorgeous scenery. I hope you'll likewise like the novel on which the movie is based, To Catch a Thief by David Dodge. Share with us your thoughts and impressions of the book and the movie, and freely compare them!
