I'm deeply interested in the interface of "science" and "non-science", and would love to see a whole other discussion on this, but for starters, I had the experience of a few dear people referring me to The Contagion Myth: Why Viruses (including "Coronavirus") Are Not the Cause of Disease. (One was the new girlfriend of my ex, and I felt a particular social responsiblity to respond kindly and earnestly). So I read the book, and actually did hope for some interesting discussion. It was seriously disappointing - but what was even more disappointing, was reading the reviews, on Goodreads, Amazon, and more. Most were very flattering reviews. One person said they learned more "science" in this book than years of talking with doctors. I felt saddened that topics I found interesting were ruined by very shallow unsubstantiated writing.

So I took way more time than I felt the book deserved and wrote my own, attempting to keep coming back to words that I would use with a friend. I'm not fully there - it's hard for me to not get wordy or sarcastic or detached and academic. What proved a really interesting challenge for me was writing something I could imagine sharing with someone I cared about, in a way that I thought they would listen, assuming they liked the book. Now I suspect many people in this group would instantly dismiss such a book and I don't blame you at all - but for those of you who have friends or family members that might love it, I'd be curious about your experiences. And, just to say, because of the target audience, this book, like many others, has gotten mostly very positive reviews : /

Some say don't engage at all - maybe it's better to get very little publicity - but what about those people who are actually asking for feedback?

FYI it is full of 5G/coronavirus theory and claims to refute human germ theory. So it's a lot. In my review I tried to stay with subjects that were less widely debated and more interesting to me.

You are welcome to have this discussion, but I moved the post to a different folder, since it is actually about a "book".
