Samantha (samanthasshelf) I liked the book! It may be an unpopular opinion but I think others should read it! I flew through it in 2 days and I am reading the Elite now!I love Maxon more than I love anything in this world and honestly, America gets on my nerves. I loved when America gets her jeans and when she meets Marley. SO overall- 5 stars

booklover024 | 19 comments I absolutely loved it! the series is one of my favorites!!! favorite character would have to be America and Maxon but I really love Marlee. also I completely agree with Samantha! America can be VERY annoying. least favorite character would be Clarkson and I didn't like Aspen in the first 2 books but I started to like him towards the ends of the 3rd book. I won't share favorite scenes for spoilers but yeah. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 382 comments I never made it past the first 50 pages. I always think I should try it again when I see how much people loved it.

Shawna Finnigan (sugoishawn) | 945 comments I really liked the first book but I absolutely despised the second book. The first book was fun and cute. Maxon was perfection in the first book and I liked the whole idea of the Selection. The second book turned into a mess. It wasn't explicitly cheating with what was going on because no one was officially dating another person but it felt like America was cheating on both Maxon and Aspen and it felt like Maxon was cheating on America. Their was just so much drama for no reason and all the characters got on my nerves. I can see why people love this series and I can see why people hate it. I honestly have decided to give up on this series...

Now having read the first book, here's what I feel. I liked the book, it was unputdownable and I flipped the pages, completed reading in a day! Though, I don't understand the hype, the author's writing style is plain, and the concept is great but it could've been better executed, it had great potential. World building isn't impressive, and I won't call it Dystopian.
Talking of characters, I liked America and Maxon, May, Marlee. I have mixed feelings about Aspen, Celeste is intolerable.
I definitely enjoyed the book but I wouldn't recommend it as a dystopian, it's just a good romance with a new plot. I will pick up the next book, but I am already dreading that, seeing so many negative reviews.
