Quite a controversial book, I'd say!

Is Twilight by Stephenie Meyer absolute trash? Or is it a literary masterpiece? Is it something in between?

I wouldn't say literary masterpiece, but I absolutely loved this series and would happily give it 5 stars! I liked this series because of the romance(I have a thing for love triangles) and I also loved the vampires, werewolves, and powers. Oh, and of course your typical good vs. evil!

I've heard a lot about Twilight. It seems to me that a lot of people either really love it or really hate it. (And you're team love it)

Twilight is trash but I love it lol

I think twilight isn't a "literary masterpiece," but I really enjoy reading it! (I re-read the series all the time lol)
Each time I re-read it, I find something new that I apparently missed in the other times I've read it. (I am actually currently re-reading the series.)
I don't think it's trash at all. If you pay close attention to the writing, you will see that it gets better as the books go on. I feel like if she re-wrote the first book, it wouldn't be as bad. (Not that she would/should. I like it, but... the writing isn't the best. I love the story tho.)

Haven't read it... I'm worried I'll either hate it or become obsessed with it and from what I've seen I'd rather not be either...

Lol, I totally get that; that’s kind of how it is with me. :)

Twilight is a guilty pleasure of mine...definitely not perfect, and some of the things Edward does are a bit questionable (read: possessive), but the story overall is fun and easy to read.

I read the first book, but couldn't get into. but I respect all of the people that love the series

I didn’t like the twilight series but respect those who enjoyed it.

Honestly they're about equal in my opinion! I've only read the first two and watched the first two but the movies are really accurate to the books

Oh... Well in my opinion the second movie was trashy but overall the entire series of movies, I quite enjoyed it.

Yes, totally. It took me a while to emotionally recover from it. It drained me so much

I KNOOWWW. Like since it’s first person, I was literally reading from a viewpoint of a girl in full-on depression. I WAS DEPRESSED. It was the book in the saga that definitely took the longest to read for me.

I really hate Twilight. The plot is boring and the characters are just so annoying. However, the last movie is amazing. I like it so much better than I liked the book.

i never read the book series before but i watch all of the twilight movies. well i can’t say it was bad, it just weird you know? it feels like i watch a cheesy wattpad story by 12yo teenager lol

I absolutely loved the series, I wouldn’t consider it a masterpiece or a series to go down in history but it was good. The romance is a little cliché, but kept me interested the entire time.

I read it and really enjoyed it but Bella always annoys me. I'd say that it's neither trash or masterpiece

My mom kind of made me read this book because she loved the movie and thought I’d love the book. I actually just skimmed through most of it. It’s really boring, in my opinion. The sparse action isn’t written very well, which makes it all boring. I’m also just not a fan of the vampire genre in general, so that might influence my opinion.

Never read it, so I can't really judge them, but I feel like they would be absolute trash in my opinion. Or pretty close to it anyways.

I have heard a lot about this ongoing debate about Twilight. Ironically, Twilight is #6 on Goodread's Best Books Ever list yet the series also finds its place in Goodread's Worst Books Ever list.

I have not read the series or even the first book, and I am kind of hesitant to do so. Based on what other reviewers have said and what I prefer in a book, t seems like I might end up finding Twilight "absolute trash" if I read! 😂😂😂 I've never really been into the romance genre (unless it's Jane Austen, of course), but Twilight doesn't seem to be Jane Austen, so I probably wouldn't enjoy it just because it is in the YA Romance genre. Plus, from what other reviewers said, the book does seem to contain characters, content, and themes I would not endorse or agree with. I am still curious as to why people love it and it feels so tempting to get JUST ONE PEEK at the first book, but at the same time... I don't want to rage about the world because I read something that ends up being trash to me. 🗑️🗑️🗑️

You bring up some pretty good points. If I were you, I would read at least the first book (my favorite) so you can at least say you read it and have an opinion with some evidence, you know? And maybe your like me and love it.

Good point. Maybe someday I might try to read the first book. I probably won't dedicate myself to the entire series, though. I might be able to look into it in 2024.
