I heard it's nothing like the play but I still wanna read it. Musicals make things fluffy

The musical is really good. I've seen it and we studied it last year in music. I have no idea how similar this is but I heard the romance is a little erotic. That is definitely not in the musical!

Read about 4% of this and think I'm gonna give up. It's just very crude and I'm not a fan.

41% done (view spoiler)[Okay so Boq and Elphaba are okay. maybe Nanny. The rest of the cast is yuck. The story gives me just enough to have me curious but honestly has me bored a lot. The writing often just drags on and there seems to be little to no value in it. Maybe now that Galinda is Glinda and she and Elphaba are off the the Emerald City the pace will pick up. I hope... Done. Same reason I trudged through it. I refuse to allow myself to see the play until I have read the book. And trudge I did...

Saw the play. Pretty different but it was so good

Part 1 - Munchkinlanders (view spoiler)[ I'm liking this so far, not much has really happened yet. I don't like Frex at all - he preaches so much!! And I don't like Melena either. I feel sorry for little Elphaba, her parents don't really love her that much, and they all hate that she's green. I'm interested to see more of Oz (hide spoiler)]

Part 2 - Gillikin (view spoiler)[ I'm not really feeling pulled in by the story right now, it's dragging a little. Some of the characters, and parts of the story, just seems to be added for no reason - such as the bit with Boq and the Philosophy Club. Glinda seems nicer now, but quite a quick change from how she was in the previous section. Nessarose gets on my nerves a lot (hide spoiler)]

Part 3 - City of Emeralds (view spoiler)[ I didn't buy the relationship between Elphaba and Fiyero - it just seemed so random! He has a wife and kids, and barely spoke to Elphaba in school but now suddenly they love each other? Elphaba's work as a revolutionary/terrorist is pretty strange too, especially as we're learning about it from someone else's PoV (hide spoiler)]

26% (view spoiler)[ I liked a lot the part about Elphaba's childhood but I didn't like Galinda's part too much. It's not the book, I read and enjoyed it but I don't like Galinda. Boq instead seems quite intersting. <\spoiler> (hide spoiler)]

finished (view spoiler)[The part in wich Elfie is at Samira's home is the part the I liked less but I enjoyed the reading. It was quite intersting and fascinating, in his own way. Elfaba is really an intersting character and the author has a brilliant mind. I liked a lot of thing but I wasn't hooked up and I do not know if I would read the other books. (hide spoiler)]

Had to Google today if the musical was anything like this because I don’t see the appeal. Apparently it’s nothing like it except character names. (hide spoiler)]

I LOVED this book when I was younger but re reading it I don't know why I did there is so much wrong about it and more scarily there are things about it that are still valid in today's society. It is very much a political book dressed up as fantasy

I really liked them together, too. I was hoping that would have a better ending.

I kept thinking, is your point that religion is bad? people are bad? politicians are bad? racists are bad? people born different are a result of bad people having children? I think there were a lot of lines crossed without making a good argument.
