there are a lot...... hmm, I think The Telling Room has a contest, I'm not sure about Teen Ink.... google "Writing contests" and you'll get a lot of options.
https://www.one-story.com/index.php?p... (this one you can't submit until September 7th but it's a good one to keep in mind, 3,000-8,000 words, and fiction stories.)
https://varietypack.net/submissions-2/
(they do not pay BUT they share your writing on Twitter and Instagram, this is for people who write fiction, poetry, non-fiction, reviews, and interviews, and they are now excepting visual arts, there is more information on the website. The Word count for this is on the website. )
https://geekpartnership.org/programs/...
(I'm going to be entering this contest, the prize is an Amazon 50$ gift card, for short fiction, poetry, and graphic novels, there are different age divisions and be sure to read the rules and requirements please.)
Please let Olivia and I know if you are interested in submitting your story, the websites above are all free. If you would like help editing be sure to ask :) Have fun, keep writing and stay creative!

Reedsy posts new writing prompts every week. Each week of prompts are themed and you submit your story based on the prompts for the possibility to win $50. Plus, people often like to read the winning story. It's more for getting your name out there, but it's all free.
Aaaah guys I've submitted to https://varietypack.net/submissions-2/
I'm happy and a little scared. I'm also about to be published for a second time through https://www.tellingroom.org/ a great place for publishing, especially first-time authors. I love https://www.teenink.com as well, it's very casual and the editor's get back to you within 2 weeks, which is very quick. If you are thinking about being published, then don't wait around! Just do it!
(All of the publishing websites mentioned are free. Teen ink is for teens, The Telling Room is for ages 7-18, and Variety Pack doesn't have an age limit)

I think I am going to submit All Alone and The Tree that Takes All. If you have any suggestions let me know!
if anyone wants there are many different awards and contests on wattpad, including the watty's! here is the link to wattpad: https://www.wattpad.com/home
I would make a wattpad account, but it isn't EXACTLY school-computer friendly lol, I think my school blocked kids from being able to make accounts, but I can still read people's stories. Its a cool website, minus the obvious stuff lmao.
lmao thats weird, my school chromebook allows us on the website

I've been very busy lately submitting to dozens of publishing magazines. I have found that most magazines have a wait period of 2-4 months before responding. Because I am extremely impatient, I obviously didn't like that. So I found a few magazines with VERY quick response times. These are some of the fastest in the industry. If you ever want to get published, submit your work to some of these places.

24 hour response time.

Around two week response time.
https://moonparkreview.com/

The following magazines respond within a month:

I would always check the web sites to determine whether they are traditional (albeit smaller) publishing houses, or an "author subsidized" company.
The Mystery Writers of America also publishes an "approved publisher's" list that they update regularly. Some of the publishers do handle other genres than mystery.
