I usually prefer standalones or duologies because unless a series is reaaally good I have trouble keeping up with multiple books... sometimes even if it is really good I forget to read the next ones lol

I also hate that you have to wait several years for longer series to finish... usually I wait until they're all published so I don't have to wait for the next book, but if it's a long series then by the time it ends no one is even talking about it anymore

Shawna Finnigan (sugoishawn) | 1692 comments I like both but I prefer series because it allows me to really get myself immersed in the story and it lets me spend more time with the characters

Willow Anne | 1604 comments I like both, so i dont think i can choose! But i agree, some books would have been better if the sequels hadnt existed

✨lee✨ (chaoticinkstain) | 936 comments i stand by the fact that standalone is always better with the exception of fantasy. the only time a fantasy book is better as a series is when they don't follow a predictable plot over a trilogy and that the middle book(s) don't lag.

i just have commitment issues I think. i started the harry potter series almost four years ago and I'm 1/4 of the way through half blood prince. so for me to sit down and read, say, the whole like six-book throne of glass series would be wild. it'll take me forever.

duologies are like the best of both worlds

I agree and I have pretty bad commitment issues as well

Willow Anne | 1604 comments I keep changing my mind, but at the moment i think i like series best bc you can get so in depth w/ the characters and their lives, which i love! Also sometimes you dont want a book to ever end, and a series is like the continuation, so it doesnt have to end

Yes same!

Winter (winterreavesd11org) | 14 comments I love both but I'd prefer to read series, if it's a really hooking book then I'd want a whole series of them. If it's a book with an ending that leaves you clueless and curious then I'd definitely like more of that from a series. Standalone's are great to though!
