The latest collection of short stories from Murakami is representative of his larger body of work with heavy doses of jazz and classical music; awkward relationships and observations; and mystical events. Themes of love and death appear throughout, increasingly from perspective of an older man looking back at his youth. Of course, there's also a talking monkey. For Murakami fans, an easy and enjoyable read.

I see, this book feels like a collection of typical Murakami stories then (...a talking monkey?). I recently read Men without Women, also a short story collection of Murakami and enjoyed it very much. I feel that with short stories I can always just 'revisit' them, and that is why I like to own the hardback/paperback versions, on top of having a kindle version.

Really look forward to reading this one.
