Dana (danarlynn) | 25 comments Okay, I read a book awhile ago where Bingley abandons Jane after Lydia gets pregnant.

I’m also looking for one where he looses interest and starts chasing another woman. I recall Darcy arguing with him that his honor was engaged. Any ideas?

message 2: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (crystal_dark) | 114 comments I am not familiar with either but hope someone else is because I want those for my TBR List.

message 3: by wosedwew (new)

wosedwew | 259 comments Dana, can you give us any more details?

I am thinking of Sketching Character where Lydia has a baby but ends up with Bingley.

There are several books with both those scenarios.

message 4: by Shelley (new)

Shelley | 39 comments I am thinking that is a story called Breathe By knitchick

message 5: by Adele (new)

Adele (delbert59) | 41 comments Sketching Character was an excellent book and I highly recommend it.

message 6: by Dana (new)

Dana (danarlynn) | 25 comments I remember in the 1st book they were standing in long borne With the bingley's and Mr. Darcy and Lydia says to her mother very loudly in the hallway that she's not sick she's with child.

message 7: by Dana (last edited Apr 24, 2021 07:02AM) (new)

Dana (danarlynn) | 25 comments Not Sketching Mr. Darcy. In both books, Bingley abandons Jane forever.

In the 2nd book I remember a scene in a ballroom where Elizabeth gives Caroline the cut direct

This scene sounds familiar. I am searching but so far no answer.

Is this one where the family goes to London for a time before retreating to Scotland to await Lydia's baby? Lydia has a miscarriage while in London.

message 9: by Dana (new)

Dana (danarlynn) | 25 comments I don't remember if Lydia has a miscarriage. I do know that this situation puts the end to Darcy and Bingley's friendship.

message 15: by wosedwew (new)

wosedwew | 259 comments Here is another:

On FB, Gail Frisby has been looking for this book. This is her description:

Looking for story. Lizzy saves Darcy from marrying a deceptive lady who is already married to a blacksmith and has children and she has also falsely married an earl.

This is Carolyn's note about it: In another story, Lizzy sees a woman with kids at blacksmiths.. she tells Darcy before the wedding about woman's kids, etc. Darcy goes to the woman and confronts her.

This is familiar to me but ... no luck naming it.
Does anyone have a hint?

message 16: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 120 comments sounds familiar to me too

message 17: by abmom (new)

abmom | 181 comments The only story I remember reading involving a blacksmith is A dishonourable Offer by Timothy Underwood in which Lydia marries a blacksmith and Darcy and Elizabeth does meet her family in the story.

message 18: by wosedwew (new)

wosedwew | 259 comments It was definitely Darcy who was involved with a woman already married with children.

message 19: by Adele (last edited Jun 10, 2021 03:37PM) (new)

Adele (delbert59) | 41 comments I read a book where there is a forced marriage from a compromise (thanks Mama Bennet) Darcy is furious and leaves Elizabeth at Longbourn. Then Mr Bennet dies and all the sisters follow one married sister to America.
Darcy starts searching for her when he wants an annulment.

One or two of the details you listed come up in this story: Thirty Days of Silver. http://meryton.com/aha/index.php?show...

long story of Elizabeth accepting/proposing marriage to Darcy after her father lost a large amount of money to a crook investment
Darcy agrees, still in love but knows she’s only doing it to save her family-not out of love. He demands 30 days from her and then he intends to live separately. He’s angry, she’s upset. He leaves after a month to go to Canada for who knows how long? The only way she can communicate with him is through Richard Fitzwilliam, who is taking care of all of his correspondence. Elizabeth finds out more about her father’s mess, and Jane’s part in Mr. Bennet’s suggestion that Elizabeth marry Darcy. Jane becomes a true bitch in this story. Charles is an idiot. Mrs. Bennet has nothing good to say to Elizabeth, but spreads the story of her pregnantcy around Meryton before Elizabeth even feels the baby move or is able to share
her joy with anyone else on her own terms. Her only friends are her sister Mary, and Aunt and Uncle Gardiner, and the servant bodyguards that Darcy hired for her protection. Wickham is really evil in this and in cahoots with the investment thieves and cooks up a plot to kidnap baby Lenora Darcy. William shows up the day the baby is kidnapped and Elizabeth has been abducted and let go after she fights back….but she’s got a lot of injuries
Darcy and the bodyguards plus some other men find the baby bring her back home and then go back and apprehend 4 of the criminals including Wickham.

These were the notes I wrote myself after reading. Ring any bells?

If that's not it, I hope someone else finds it for you. Sounds interesting.

Shelley | 39 comments I do remember this story. Do you remember if it was from a site or a book?

message 23: by abmom (new)

abmom | 181 comments I recently came across the book - A Life Apart: A Darcy and Elizabeth Pride and Prejudice Variation https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3.... Though I haven't read it yet, the synopsis sounds similar to the above description. Might this be it?

That does sound interesting. Although I don't think it is A Life Apart.

Did you ever find this one? It also sounds interesting.

that wasn't the book I was looking for but. it sounded interesting and I just read it last night. Very enjoyable.

Adele (delbert59) | 41 comments Sam wrote: "Was it written well? I am not a big fan of her writing"
I enjoyed it. It was not a super well written book but the. premise was interesting. And the fact that. he marries, then abandons her for 3 years to come back later and annual it makes me not like him. very well. Then he has to search all over creation for her finally finding her in the Ohio Valley area.

message 32: by Adele (last edited Jun 10, 2021 03:42PM) (new)

Adele (delbert59) | 41 comments I was thinking of. reading several stories with the same theme. Particularly Darcy and Elizabeth anticipate their vows, there is a pregnancy and Darcy. disappears ( at least for a while)

I can think of 3 so far:
Havenswood https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10217645...
An Unwitting Compromise
Losing Lizzy: A Pride and Prejudice Vagary

Sam H. | 543 comments Here's a challenge- I read a blurb (I think) Elizabeth is found by the Darcys as a young child, injured and amnesia. They raise her, she marries Darcy, ends up at netherfiled, etc..

New book? Book in progess? Fanfic?

I recently read that blurb and i think you’re looking for An Accident at Pemberley: A Pride and Prejudice Variation
I thought it sounded interesting, but haven’t read it yet. Let me know what you think if you read it. I considered it for a long minute.

message 37: by Sam (new)

Sam H. | 543 comments No, not that one. I have read it and it is good. One of the best of that author. I recommend it.

message 38: by wosedwew (last edited Jun 18, 2021 07:59AM) (new)

wosedwew | 259 comments Bound by Love by Jann Rowland

Elizabeth is found on Pemberley land as a small child, raised by the Darcys. Taken to Netherfield when Darcy visits Bingley.
I don't think there was an amnesia plot.

message 39: by Sam (new)

Sam H. | 543 comments Omgosh, I love that one!! But nope not it either.
I either dreamt a plot again. Or its a fanfic or WIP/about to be released

message 40: by abmom (new)

message 45: by Sam (new)

Sam H. | 543 comments yup that was it. and very good too. aside from Mr Bennet not really getting resolved.

Elin Eriksen (vaarin) | 210 comments I am looking for a book and it is driving me nuts!
Darcy and Elizabeth are married when Darcy has a riding accident/shot? visiting a neighbour. He loses his memory and doesn't remember Elizabeth and treats her coldly and she is advised to stay away from him until he improves, but older acquaintances like neighbours, he remembers. A widowed daughter of a neighbour is asking him for help a lot... She was married to his friend who was pushed off a cliff by Wickham. There is a wedding ring with the inscription"First, Last, Only, Always".
The friend turns out not to be dead but was severely injured. He kidnaps Elizabeth and she is hidden behind a curtain, tied and gagged when Darcy enters and is held at gunpoint. The Colonel is on his way. I wonder if Elizabeth is shot...
Please, help!
I have leafed through 2000+ books on GR and 1200 on kindle but I cannot find it!

message 47: by Sam (new)

Darcy's Temptation: A Sequel to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice

I just read over my review (read the book 3 times) and I do believe this might be the one you're looking for.

message 50: by Sam (new)
