Ariel (stariel) | 26 comments This book was translated from the original Swedish.

I had already seen the Swedish film, Let the Right One In, which is based on this book, so I knew pretty much what to expect. It's a very interesting and somewhat non-traditional vampire story, and I enjoyed it despite the fact that a lot of things in the story are very uncomfortable.

Kathy I feel the same way. Not for the faint of heart, but I enjoyed it too.

Cathy Lewis | 37 comments Maybe this would be a good one for the book that scares me category!

Thomas Hillring (dakkster) The proper book title is Let the right one in, which was made into a Swedish movie with the same name and a Hollywood movie with the name Let me in. That title annoys me to a certain degree, since Eli explains in the book that vampires can't ask or order anyone to let them in. They have to be invited by the other person, which makes the title "Let me in" pretty nonsensical.

Of course the American book marketing people had to give it the same title as the inferior Hollywood movie. Sigh... I hate marketing sometimes.
