Elfrida: The First Crowned Queen of England by Elizabeth Norton

This looks great!

Anyone who saw the movie "THE YOUNG VICTORIA" starring Emily Blunt will enjoy this novel.

FYI, that's only been recently republished in the UK so it's not readily available in the US. On Amazon US, it's only available from third party sellers and there's no Kindle edition available. I know Amazon will ship printed books internationally so you could order from the UK store but shipping will cost more and for ebook users, this title isn't available in the US at all.

Check out The Book Depository, a UK-based website which offers FREE SHIPPING worldwide.

BTW, The Queen's Husband is readily available for sale on the site.

Thanks for checking Robin! There seems to be a lot of inexpensive copies available from the third party sellers on Amazon US, so if this book was selected I think we'd be okay if people wanted to order from there (we've never ruled out an out of print book as long as there were a decent amount of reasonably priced used copies available - sometimes you get a case where there's only 3 copies and they're going for $80 a piece, so in that case we'll knock it out).
KOMET, thanks for the Book Depository link! I've never gone to that site before (although I've heard of it). I'll edit my standard nominating spiel to include it because that's a great additional resource.

I'm aware of Book Depository but for me personally, I only read ebooks and since it's not available as an ebook in the US, I wouldn't be able to read it.

Fair enough, I guess I just thought it might be an issue because some people don't like to buy from the third parties on Amazon, and it's not available as an ebook at all in the US.

The Assassination of the Archduke: Sarajevo 1914 and the Romance that Changed the World
I'm for either of these 2. . .they sound interesting and my library has copies!! :-)

This is absolutely fine - we try to be flexible!

***ANY EUROPEAN COUNTRY, ANY TIME PERIOD, FICTION OR NON-FICTION***
And, we're back!
Okay everyone, it's that time of the month - time to nominate! Anyone who would like to nominate one book may do so in this thread.
The theme this month is YOUR CHOICE - EUROPEAN ROYALTY (any European country, any time period, fiction or non-fiction). If we start getting too many of the same type of books as group reads (like a ton of Tudor books in a row), I'll certainly tweak the next theme so that we maintain some diversity.
Since we haven't had a group read in such a long time, I'm not going to exclude any books we've read together in the past.
Please try to check amazon, http://www.bookdepository.com/ or some other site to make sure the book is easily available - the last thing we want is to nominate some great book that no one can get! If you nominate more than one book, only the first book listed will make it into the voting poll (so save additional books for the next months!).
Feel free to nominate one book of your choice in this thread until I close the thread (scheduled to close February 8th, 9pm Eastern).
At around that time, I'll make a voting poll and list all the nominated books in it, and people can vote in the poll until the poll closes (set to last through February 12th). The discussion will start on March 1st.
Happy Nominating!
