Hannah | 3296 comments I had been put off reading this book as it is tagged horror so often, but it was not what I expected it to be. The book was quite slow-paced with lots of description about scents and perfumes. I disliked the main character, as we are supposed to, and he seemed to have no redeeming characteristics – he has this amazing gift of having the most perfect sense of smell, but he uses it for evil, selfish reasons. I wasn’t invested in either the plot or the narrator, and the book just didn’t grab me.

Nicole | 681 comments I never picked up the book, but that’s probably because I rather believe it’s a story that lends itself better to the big screen than it does to print - I very much liked the movie. Would definitely recommend, especially having read the book.

annapi | 5505 comments I found the premise rather fascinating. I'm not a horror fan, but I read it for a challenge and at the end was glad to claim it as a notch on my belt. Though reading it was kind of like watching a train wreck, where you are horrified but can't help watching. I gave it 4 stars.
