What book are you enjoying or not?

I’m currently reading, and loving, Aurora Burning which is book 2. Then it’s a 6- month wait for book 3.

Joseph | 1651 comments I'm currently reading some genre-adjacent nonfiction: Flame and Crimson: A History of Sword-and-Sorcery by Brian Murphy.

message 7: by Dhanusha (new)

Dhanusha | 109 comments I'm almost done with Legacy of Ash. My reading has been slooow since last month, work's been hectic. Hoping to read more this month.

Do you like it? I’ve been trying to get the audio for book 2 but it still isn’t released.

I really struggled with book one- the story sounded good, the narrator was good but I had zero interest. Keep wondering if I’d like it as a ‘reading’ book.

I enjoyed reading it, solid epic fantasy, but did feel a bit disconnected at times. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I had read it in a continuous stretch.

I can’t understand why the audio is so late for book two :(

message 15: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments I finished Fugitive Telemetry yesterday. It was pretty good.

Starting The Black Tides of Heaven.

message 20: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 1651 comments In light of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition release (which I won't get to play until after I finish my current game), I started Mass Effect: Revelation by Drew Karpyshyn.

message 21: by Dhanusha (new)

Dhanusha | 109 comments Read Fatemarked because I needed something light after a bunch of lengthy epic fantasies. But boy was it good! Deciding what to read next

Finished The October Country. It was like The Twilight Zone in written form and I love it. It was easily a 5-star. Now I'm on to One Fine Fae

Finished One Fine Fae. It was good, a 4 star. I started Dead Acre. It is really, really good.

message 26: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments I finished The Black Tides of Heaven. I liked it OK. I think it suffers one of the pitfalls of novellas where there’s a lack of development, and I didn’t fully understand its magic system, but it was unique.

After a while of deciding, I finally picked Trail of Lightning to read next. I’ve wanted to read it for a while.

message 28: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 1651 comments After finishing a bunch of Mass Effect novels, I started Susanna Clarke's new one, Piranesi.

message 29: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 1651 comments And finished Piranesi (it was short) and decided to get a jump on next month's pick (I nominated it so I really do need to read it, right?), Blue Moon Rising.

I finished Dead Acre and it was great. Finished Djinn Unleashed and it'd basically porn and finally finished Tangle in the Dark, while the show is great this book is terrible. Now I'm reading another weird western in Deadman's Road. I'm really loving this book and this genre.

Finished Deadman's Road. I had a lot of mixed feelings about this book. I have a feeling that some people will find this book offensive. I gave it a 3 star. I'm now on to Kraken.
