I'm excited for the author's new book, her first work of fiction in 8 years (since The Lowland). Originally published in Italian in 2018 as "Dove mi trovo", the book was translated into English by the author herself.
The book is set in Italy with local feel. Written as a series of short, reflective essays - “a year in the life” - from point of view of a middle age, single, female professor. Beautiful. simple prose. Melancholy. The themes are about belonging and not belonging, place and displacement. 4.5 rounded down.
