ahhh oh my god!! i know it's only been a couple weeks since we finished Red Rising, but i'd honestly already forgotten how VICIOUS and BRUTAL and INTENSE this series is!! and i'm loving it!! first of all, only in Red Rising would the MC lose the first battle haha. i was literally full of those happy vibes you get when you win something, and then Darrow's ship got blown up haha, it was so unexpected, but also expected at the same time? if you know what i mean? anyway, i did NOT expect Darrow to be leaving the Andromedus family this quickly, but it's probably for the best. honestly i don't blame Darrow for not understanding all the politics.... i don't understand it either. i just hope Roque is ok, and i hope Sevro and Mustand come back! i miss them both.

also wow, Eo was pregnant? that's so, so sad. and definitely a good way for Harper to make Darrow angry.... i definitely don't trust Harper anymore than i trust the Jackal. both characters are so sus. but i'm proud of Darrow for not blowing everyone up! he knows that there is more to Eo's dream than death. i can't wait to see what happens next!

I have been loving reading both of your thoughts on the books! I read them only a few weeks ago and binged all three in the short span of two weeks. Such a good read!

yesss this series is amazing! glad you loved it as well! i appear to have lost Karen for a bit, but i know she's busy with her new job, so i'm sure she'll reappear soon. no rush! i'm super excited to read the whole series with her :))

Part I - Bow
Ch 1 Warlords
- [ ] Wow 2 years have past since he won the games?! What did he do in all that time while in his enemies’ house?
- [ ] I still can’t believe Darrow is the Primus of the ArchGovernor.
- [ ] Yeah I figured Cassius and his family would want him dead soon

Ch 2 - The Breach
- [ ] Quinn and Roque? Cute, we will see where it goes. I guess they did suffer together and came through together in the end
- [ ] Yes!! I need Servo! It’s only chapter 2 and I miss him dearly! Miss their brotherly love
- [ ] Oh my goodness, how cruel and terrible. What a decision to make, to only save two more of six, and then to have to shoot one for panicking.
- [ ] Damn! He couldn’t even get them back!

Ch 3 - Blood and Piss
- [ ] 833 dead 😭
- [ ] This is still part of the academy, part of the game still? This is soo intense
- [ ] Oh my goodness, that beating was vicious and definitely shameful. To be beaten, hair cut and then pissed on ??

Ch 4 Fallen
- [ ] Oh my gosh they are going to use Red suicide bombers! Are you kidding?
- [ ] And not just Reds, Blue and Green children as well, what a horrible society
- [ ] How is Darrow able to keep a straight face?
- [ ] Oh wow her sang is sung by many. I am glad she was able to make an impact in her death
- [ ] Wow, they left him to his own devices. What a cruel, harsh world indeed. For only one lost

Ch 5 Abandoned
- [ ] I feel for Darrow, I doubt the Bellona House would not touch him the moment he is off the ArchGovenor’s Protection. By the looks of it, the mother is in desperate need for vengeance. Crazy lady to want to see the heart on a platter
- [ ] But Mustang, wow she really has come to love him but I am glad this book is very realistic even in these circumstances, Darrow has secrets and it’s good Mustang has picked up on it. I doubt she would be happy to see who he really is

Ch 6 Icarus
- [ ] Looks like he does still have allies

Ch 7 The Afterbirth
- [ ] Oh boy the Jackal and Reaper are back together
- [ ] And it seems as though the Jackal is still crazy yet intelligent
- [ ] Oooo so now the Jackal is going after Ares and the crew? Oh boy how in the world is Darrow going to get out of this mess, it’s likely Jackal needs his help to find and kill them

Ch 8 Scepter and Sword
- [ ] Evey??! Wow she is completely different now
- [ ] I doubt the Jackal will die, he is too clever

Ch 9 The Darkness
- [ ] She was pregnant! How is that going to help Darrow, it will definitely break him!
- [ ] Also I cannot believe Evey, this is such a bloody war, she managed to kill lots of LowColours.
- [ ] But I am with Darrow here, how can you follow someone who you have never meant before?

Ch 10 Broken
- [ ] Aww no, I see his dilemma. Save Roque and he knows who bombed the gala. Don’t tell him and he dies
- [ ] Oh man I hope Roque will not turn into a Cassius and can forgive him

Ch 11 Red
- [ ] Wow Mustang and Cassius? I’m glad he decided not to activate the bomb
- [ ] Darrow has always been smart and I hope it goes well with his new idea of civil war
- [ ] What a great first part, definitely suspenseful and full of violence. I need more scenes with Roque and Servo, need the gang back again!

Sorry! I’m back! It’s been busy, but I’m trying to manage my time better as I miss reading regularly. Will try to be more consistent from now on so we can start book 3 soon :)

I agree with your thoughts! I also liked how Darrow didn’t kill everyone and realised there is more to Eo’s dream then killing everyone. I just hope it doesn’t make his situation with Ares worse.
It was unexpected how he left his House and how he lost that battle. Love how realistic and different this book is.
Can’t wait to read the second part. Will read a little each day and hopefully we can finish it before mid June and read book 3 together :)

yeah the mother is super crazy, refusing to eat until she gets his heart on a platter..... creepy haha. and yes, Evey has definitely changed, and i don't know if i love it! i kinda miss old Evey... she was soft but at least she wasn't crazy with vengeance and anger...

It was super weird to see the mother blaming all her kids for her suffering and depression.
And then we meet the eldest brother Krunus who didn't like Julian, probably not even any of his siblings. It is quite a messed up family

Yeah I miss old Evey as well, I mean I am glad she has come out of her shell, but I can't help but feel she has been brainwashed a bit? Probably by Harmony too? Like Harmony confirmed it with Darrow that Evey was basically sent on a suicide mission when she was asked to blow up the Jackal.
So yes, I also have suspicion over Harmony now too. Especially now that Dancer is dead.

Yeah I hope she is faking it, don't know what her motives would be though. But hopefully her plans are revealed soon. This is good!

yeah Harmony seems super suspicious and i really don't like her... you're right, she's definitely indoctrinated and brainwashed Evey a bit :/
