Challenge Corner discussion

For cynical twenty-three-year-old August, moving to New York City is supposed to prove her right: that things like magic and cinematic love stories don't exist, and the only smart way to go through life is alone. She can't imagine how waiting tables at a 24-hour pancake diner and moving in with too many weird roommates could possibly change that. And there's certainly no chance of her subway commute being anything more than a daily trudge through boredom and electrical failures.

But then, there's this gorgeous girl on the train.

Jane. Dazzling, charming, mysterious, impossible Jane. Jane with her rough edges and swoopy hair and soft smile, showing up in a leather jacket to save August's day when she needed it most. August's subway crush becomes the best part of her day, but pretty soon, she discovers there's one big problem: Jane doesn't just look like an old school punk rocker. She's literally displaced in time from the 1970s, and August is going to have to use everything she tried to leave in her own past to help her. Maybe it's time to start believing in some things, after all.

Chapter 5 (27%) (view spoiler)[ Poor Jane! Stuck on a train for 40 years and can't remember anything about her life. I like that August puts details together and hopefully she can get Jane out, even if she goes back to the 70's. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 9 (58%) (view spoiler)[ I'm glad they figured out Jane's life and who she is. Now they need to find out what happened to her to make her stuck. I really hope this doesn't end with Jane in her own time and them apart.

Chapter 13 (82%) (view spoiler)[ Ooh they figured out what happened to her! Now to see if they can get her out of it.

Finished (view spoiler)[ Whew, I was worried that Jane was staying in the 70's. I'm glad she ended up in the present and can still see her family and connect with them.

Also, I wondered if August's inheritance would be enough to save the pancake house. I'm happy that worked out! (hide spoiler)]

35% (view spoiler)[Yay I am absolutely loving it so far. I was really surprised they were going for a bit of supernatural element to it, because I was thinking this was going to be straight up contemporary, but I'm glad they added that! I am so interested in finding out what is up with Jane! And I love August. She is such a cutie. And their squad of roommates is absolutely adorable! (hide spoiler)]

Finished (view spoiler)[ Oh my god I devoured this book and it made me cry. The relationship between Jane and August was so magical and I'm so happy things worked out for them. I needed a happy read like this! There was so much fate working its way through this story and I really liked that. I absolutely love the found family they had and the subway parties and the fundraisers and oh my gosh! It was so cute. Loved! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 5
(view spoiler)[ August is an incredibly fun character to follow around... although I do get some 'quirky'-girl vibes from her.
Jane also sounds really fun. They make a nice match.

I thought it was a really nice, all around scene, when Jane stated that she didn't know who she was at all, after August guessed how confident Jane was in her person.

Jane's name is also really fitting... it made me think about 'Jane Does'.... the name for missing and unknown females. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 10
(view spoiler)[ The jokester award definitely goes to Myla - she kills me.

August's and Jane's relationship is still cute and I hope they figure things out, although I found their public adventure to have been a little out of place.
August should also definitely try to be honest with Jane about her feelings of wanting her to stay. (hide spoiler)]

McQuinton knows how to swoop me off of my feet... I almost feel like I fell in love with their love story myself, absolutely stunning!
