I will continue to be an evangelist for Debra Dunbar, whose Imp series is one of my absolute favorites and I believe fulfills all of your criteria, but seems to be less well-known and popular than she should be. I am really liking her current series, California Demon, which is part of the Imp world. She is a good writer and her characters are lively and fun.
Melissa Olson has some good series. I liked the Scarlett Bernard series best. I don’t know that I would describe it as having a lot of sexual tension, but there’s definitely romantic attraction and I like how the characters reacted the way real adults would (e.g. not ignoring fundamental differences).
Ilona Andrews is very well known, but the innkeeper series is one of my favorites by them and is not as prevalent. I’m assuming you are familiar with the Women of the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong. Lindsay Hall is decent, but she definitely has a formula and about half her books are fated mate. Those are easy to identify and avoid, though. Darynda Jones has a new series, Betwixt and Between, that continues her irreverent style.
Finally, I found some really good suggestions by the sadly no longer updated fangsforthefantasy.com. They covered a wide range of urban fantasy books and the reviews were extremely helpful.

Patricia Briggs's Mercy Thompson series, and also Alpha and Omega.
Heather Long - Wolves of Willow Bend
Kathy Lyons - Grizzlies Gone Wild
Jacquelyn Rhoades - The Wolvers
Cherise Sinclair - The Wild Hunt Legacy
Maria Vale - The Legend of All Wolves - Outstanding
Rachel Vincent - Wildcats

~Jane Yellowrock by Faith Hunter
~ Shifters Unbound by Jennifer Ashley(sex in first book)
~Guild Hunter by Nalini Singh(sex in first book)
~Soul Screamers by Rachel Vincent
If you are ok reading about polygamous relationships than I highly recommend checking out Antia Blake series by Laurell K.hamilton that series might be up your ally. :D

I have been disappointed more often than not, even when it comes to the heavy hitters that have sold mill..."
I know of one book that might help you.

It’s a historical/comedy/romance and one of it’s kind. Instead of the same cookie cutout historical romance, Mullany takes all those elements of the time period and makes fun of it. A satire of sorts.
Check out the sample pages first to see if its something you’ll like.

Check out the one I am currently writing (it's a series). I was struggling to find something up my alley that I was happy about and ended up coming up with my own story that just created a whole new universe with characters anyone can relate to. Well... at least I am trying to! Not sure if there is anything similar, so hard to suggest alternatives for comparison. Maybe worth checking out?
Why is this book different from others?
- Urban Fantasy that takes place in modern London
- Variety of characters including different racial backgrounds and members of LGBT+ community
- Old familiar stories are reviewed from a new angle
- Demons? Angels? Witches? Devil? Yes. they are all here!
- Mystery, comedy, romance, action, thriller - dive into the mixture of chaos and enjoy it!
