Olivia Benchet has visions of murders, the most recent being the most vivid. When she shares it with Detective Rick Bentz, he not only views her story with skepticism, he believes she’s a nutcase, just like the previous detective (Brinkman) she tried to alert to earlier murders. Was his reaction reasonable or should he have behaved differently?

Lynn (ftbooklover) Oh, no. It was completely reasonable. As a matter of fact, he was more generous with his time than he probably should have been. Even though he didn't believe her, Bentz actually listened, which was something that hadn't happened before.

Susan (cruelshoes) | 158 comments He behaved as everyone else would have believed. That she was a nutter.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) He was remarkably polite under the circumstances. Although I'm sure I've read where psychics have consulted with Police Departments IRL. Find it totally unbelievable myself.

There are a heap of books with this title. How much of the book did you read before you realized?

I agree. I would have been more surprised if he had just accepted her claims as the truth. He was actually very patient with her given the circumstances.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments Bentz reacted like a cop. They get all kinds of nut cases who come to them looking for their 15 minutes of fame. Bentz did listen. I agree with Lisa, he was polite.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments Lisa, I read the whole book. It was by Lisa Regan, I waited for the location to switch from Philadelphia to New Orleans. By the third chapter, I knew I was in the wrong story, but I couldn't stop reading.. It was a good story.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) At least you got another good read out of it, LOL.

I thought Bentz had a pretty decent reaction, too. Definitely skeptical but he was also conflicted because the woman in front of him seemed completely normal.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments Bentz was a lot more courteous than I would have expected him to be. He didn't call her a nutter to her face and he actually listened to what she had to say. Part of that was because she affected him on another level, but he did treat her with respect even if he was skeptical of what she had to say.
