We get Kristi’s point of view about some of her professors and we also learn that the killer was in some of the classes. Were there any that you suspected along the way?

Lynn (ftbooklover) Too many. It seemed like every professor, friend, and significant other were meant to be suspects.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments I had a few suspects:
Brian the TA although he was too much of an obvious red herring, Leo Restin - the womanizing husband but he was low down on the list.
Father James until he was revealed to be Rick's brother
Jeb Martin - Bernadette's abusive husband.
I also suspected Sutter when it was mentioned that he teaches at both All Saints and Tulane. I eventually narrowed it down to him because all the victims were at the college at some point and the killer was also stalking Kristi. He was the only suspect with access to both locations.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I suspected Leo for a short time. The first time we met Father James I thought he was going to be the murderer. His inner dialogue points the reader in that direction initially, at least that was my reaction.

Sutter went to the top of my list immediately. He had the access to all the students.

At first, Brian topped my list but as the story progressed, he became just too obvious. Those professors all hit my list, including Jeremy Leeds! Father James was on it briefly but I just couldn’t make a priest fit. Warren Sutton didn’t emerge separately until he was revealed.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) There were a lot of possible suspects. Kristi's boyfriend was the top of my list and I thought there was something suspicious about the Monsignor. Turns out he wasn't the murderer but a child abuser equally as heinous!

I didn't even connect the Professor could be a possible suspect, there wasn't really much information about him. It also was mentioned that the Rosary Killer Father John was his apprentice. I'm sure he will turn up again so I wonder if we will learn more information about how that happened and their connection.

And Sharon, yes, Leo was a possible suspect as well.

Leeds is just so smarmy that I want him to be a villain! I was waiting for him to try and hit on Olivia. Ugh!

It was actually this and the fact that he was mentioned as teaching at both colleges that cued me to him. Father John being his apprentice indicated a teacher/student relationship.

I think that’s why I wanted him to be guilty…of something!

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree! I had a bad feeling for him from the first book. I wanted him to be the killer but then he would have to stop hitting on his students.

😏

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments Lots and lots of suspects to choose from in this one. This is a reread for me and I didn't remember who the baddie was.

I completely missed the fact that Sutter taught at both colleges. Great job picking up on that fact Lauren!

I thought it was odd that Kristi pointed out that all of her professors were off. Maybe professors are just supposed to come off odd in general? I didn't see if being as a professor. For a few seconds, I thought it might be the Monsignor. I didn't suspect Brian much at all, because I felt that would be too obvious. But I'm not very good at guessing who-done-it very often, so I sometimes am just along for the ride and enjoy it as it is revealed.
