5.7. The Bechdel test
The Golden Girls and Cagney & Lacey were two hit shows of the 80s, featuring women as the leads.

Read a book with at least 2 women and no adult men on the cover. They must be clearly adult/teen women, and not children. REQUIRED: Include the cover in your post.
Examples:
These work: Nine Simple Patterns for Complicated Women by Mary Rechner , Dying with Her Cheer Pants On by Seanan McGuire
These don't: The Pearl That Broke Its Shell by Nadia Hashimi , Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate

I believe that the person on the left is the stonemason who Anna May falls in love with, and he's male.

Teri-K Would this work? The painting in the background has figures - they look like cherubs, I think, not adult men. But I'd like you opinion.

The Talisman Ring by Georgette Heyer

I don't think they're cherubs. At least the person on the far right is way too big to be a cherub. I'm going to have to say no to this one.

None of these will work - too abstract or not clearly women.

I don't see that this shows 2 different women - looks like one woman, who's makeup is different on the two sides of her face.

two different women - two pictures of the same woman wouldn't be "2 women."
