HBC READATHONS 2018 - ON HOLD
>
2015 - Readathon One Date: February 7th, 2015 - Noon to 4PM - Check-In - CHECKPOINT TWO
Remember folks this is the check in for anybody reading during the hours of NOON until FOUR PM (4PM) on February 7th, 2015 (wherever in the world you are - use your time zone). If you want to get credit for any reading done during these four hours you must check in on this thread - Checkpoint 2.
REMEMBER AT LEAST ONE CHECK-IN MUST REFLECT THE FOLLOWING TO BE COUNTED IN THE READATHON AND OF COURSE YOU MUST CHECK-OUT AT THE END.
Make sure to answer the following:

Don't forget the proper citation - just do the best you can and we will assist you.
How much time did you read during this block of time:

Also, your location in the world and timezone

History
Started with page 1 and finished page 31.
Read for one hour from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm
I hope I filled this in the correct way. Not sure why the book photo isn't showing up though.
Justin, we cannot count the above - because we have not started the Readathon yet. It looks like you are in Ohio so we will be starting at 8AM Eastern Standard Time on February 7th though 8AM February 8th (for a 24 hour period).
So if you are in Ohio it is the same time as I have right now. The Readathon does not start for 12 more hours where you are. So let me give you some help here - it looks like you are up to page 31 (which is great progress but on the wrong day)
So start with page 32 at 8AM tomorrow on February 7th or whenever you want to start and check the timeline of the thread you are posting on. This thread says that this is for the check in on February 7th which is tomorrow between the hours of Noon to 4PM. So the only time that you can check in on this thread is on February 7th and between Noon and 4PM. There are 6 check in threads for various times on February 7th and through the early morning hours of February 8th. You have to post on these threads during the time that you read to get credit for that time checkpoint. It looks like you have the time right but the readathon does not start until tomorrow. We will see you then.

The above shows the citation properly done. You will do fine Justin - just come back tomorrow after 8AM.

OK - Croatia, UK, Spain and Portugal - this is the Checkpoint you are in now.
Croatia and Spain - you are an hour ahead of the UK and Portugal so keep that in mind.
Portugal and any other remaining UK members - it is too late to check in to CHECKPOINT ONE for the first time.
Your first check in opportunity would now be CHECKPOINT TWO because you did not post during the timeslot for CHECKPOINT ONE.
However, Samantha, Elin, Simon, Masooma - you are all OK.
Elin and Masooma - I have left notes so you can go back to the checkpoint (CHECKPOINT ONE) and answer what you missed for full credit.
Samanta and Simon are 100% for Checkpoint One.
You are all now at the CHECKPOINT TWO level.
This time slot is the check point for Noon to 4PM your time. You must post and check in HERE and answer all of the same questions to get credit for this time slot.
If you have checked in previously - you are OFFICIALLY in the readathon.
But to get time and participation credit for this time slot you have to check in again before 4PM your time and answer the same questions for this time segment. You obviously know where you ended up at the end of Checkpoint One so answering the questions should be easier:
The questions are:

Also, your location in the world and timezone
Remember if you are officially checked in - you do not have to get credit for every checkpoint - but if you do want credit then you need to check in on each and every checkpoint and answer the questions.
And MANDATORY is Checkout from 8AM to Noon on February 8th.
You must finish reading by 8AM February 8th and the last Checkpoint is Checkpoint 6 for segment credit before CHECKOUT which is Checkpoint Seven.
You are all doing fab. Any questions - just ask.

Jose welcome - Portugal has checked in. You missed Checkpoint One but that is OK - you will not get credit for Checkpoint One and that time period but you will get credit for being a part of the Readathon and completing each Check In you participate in. You must check in a minimum of one Check point and you must Check OUT - Checkout Seven. So you have done the minimum but every Check Point counts.
There are six Check In Checkpoints that are all related to time - you should be using your own local time for posting in each of them as you move forward.
100% correct - move on to Checkpoint Three if you have not already or further depending upon your local time.
Jose you have successfully completed Checkpoint Two and you are fully registered for the readathon.

You can proceed to Checkpoint Three - which I am sure you have already done - great job.

Simon as noted I realize that you are working on a cell phone for this entry and was unable to add the citation - when you get back to your home base I know you will do the update. Thanks so much.

Hello Elin - thank you for your post - and you have successfully completed Checkpoint Two - you may proceed to Checkpoint Three if you have not done so already and you can continue to go to the next checkpoints in order corresponding to your local time in Spain.
I have included the template which will make things so much easier for you.
Here it is once more:
Name of Book and Author or books and authors:
Genre or genres:
Number of Pages Read - Start Page and Finish Page for this four hour period.
Don't forget the proper citation - just do the best you can and we will assist you.
How much time did you read during this block of time:
Did you complete any books during this time frame and what were they?
Also, your location in the world and timezone
Let me look at what you have posted and give you some input. Please when you have an opportunity you may edit and add what is missing. And there is no worry about time because we are giving additional time to everyone because this is the first time that folks have been through the readathon here and the template. So there are no worries about taking the time needed. We are very understanding and want everybody to be successful. We want to make sure that we have the stats all categorized that we will use throughout this readathon and at the end. We will also carry over the stats to the other 2015 readathons in terms of the tallies. So that is why what is missing is important to add whenever you have the chance.
First, you have added the following: Tenerife, Spain which is good but you did not add the timezone which is the Western European Time Zone (UTC+00:00). Please add it for the remaining checkpoints and checkout.
Second, you added the following: Time spent reading: 1400-1545 which I believe is the time you spent.
Third, you posted the following: Read from 21% to 39 % of the book
We need to have added the start page and end page for this Checkpoint - 21% to 39% of the book does not give me that. Could you spend some time figuring that out and just follow the template that we have provide for ease. Also you can do an edit and a cut and paste and carry it forward to the next Checkpoint and use your ending page number from the previous checkpoint as your starting page in the next one. It makes it much easier to be able to keep track.
We also need for you to quantify each checkpoint - how many pages you read and percentages does not give us that specificity. So maybe you can figure that out for us and add it as well.
Also, you need to add - no books completed on each one - and/or if you do complete a book you need to add that citation as well.
I am amazed Elin that you are doing all of this while you are on vacation. I hope you are enjoying yourself too.
Great job and we are giving folks extra time to go back and fix things up. Everybody is getting use to the process. The template approach is quite useful and helpful.

Please let us know who is reading during these this period of time.
Let us know the following:
So for example:
The Jewel in the Crown by Paul Scott
If you finished a book - let us know that too and make sure to get it added to your readathon shelf so you can get credit for it. If it is added properly it will show up on your shelf. You have to make sure to have selected a readathon shelf and when you are done with the first book for your readathon - make sure to add the completed date and that the book is read versus currently reading.
It will show up on your shelf if you have done this properly.
Remember wherever you are you can participate in the readathon.
And if you only have one hour or four hours or plan to do this for the entire 24 hour period taking of course breaks for eating and sleeping - you can join for however long you want to read. We want to keep track of the books completed, the books started, the books in progress, the number of pages read by all, and the different genres. Great fun and this is only the first readathon - we will use the same readathon challenge for all of them so you can see your readathon shelfs grow.
Additionally these books that you complete on the readathon can be added to other shelfs for the Japan or India challenge or the 2015 50 Books Challenge or the goodreads yearly challenge - the sky is the limit. Any genre is welcome.
