HBC READATHONS 2018 - ON HOLD
>
2015 - Readathon One Date: February 7th, 2015 - 8PM until Midnight - Check-In - CHECKPOINT FOUR
Have you signed up Sherry and set up your shelf? (you basically use the same procedure as the Japan and India challenges for signing up)
How To Join In:
Click on the title at the top - The HBC Readathons. Please then join by simply signing in at the bottom and say how many books you plan to read for one or more of the readathon dates - there will be six readathon dates throughout the year; then create your own personal shelf to add the books which you would like to tackle during one readathon or more readathons. That is all there is to it and goodreads will keep track. Become your own marathoner in reading books on the readathon dates and we will keep track of your progress in terms of titles of books, number of books, number of pages, and different genres. Give it a whirl and see how much reading you can get done and take a stab at that big "to be read" pile of books that we all have.
Note: Don't forget to set up your shelf first and then add the name of that shelf here when setting up the challenge for your readathon.
Happy to have you with us Sherry.

Chris I see you on the Readathon list - I will send you a note. So you signed up successfully. When you get done with the book during the Readathon then you will put in your completion date and make sure you add the completed book to the Readathon shelf and any other shelf you want it added to.

The above is the citation format.
@Sherry - Sherry I do not see you on the Readathon Challenge listing - when you sign up you will be listed just like you are or were on other challenges like the India, Japan or Middle Eastern one. I will let you know when I see you on the lost.

I clicked the HBC marathons at the top and when I got to the page I could not see the place at "the bottom of the page to sign up. So I am still on "the lost." :)
It would be at the bottom of the Readathon write up.
Update: You figured it out Sherry - you are on the list.
Update: You figured it out Sherry - you are on the list.
Remember folks this is the check in for anybody reading during the hours of 8PM until MIDNIGHT on February 7th, 2015 (wherever in the world you are - use your time zone). If you want to get credit for any reading done during these four hours you must check in on this thread - Checkpoint 4. But for the check in to count - you must post between the hours of 8PM to MIDNIGHT on February 7th in the time zone that you are in. This is the Checkpoint for those hours on February 7th. To get credit for these hours this is the thread and CHECKPOINT you must post on. THIS IS CHECKPOINT FOUR.
REMEMBER AT LEAST ONE CHECK-IN MUST REFLECT THE FOLLOWING TO BE COUNTED IN THE READATHON AND OF COURSE YOU MUST CHECK-OUT AT THE END.

Francie I see your book on the shelf - but more importantly I do hope your husband is OK - take the time you need to get caught up when you can - right now your husband needs your attention. Sorry that I did not see your note until now. I have been going in order through the checkpoints and I am behind because I am writing long notes. I would ask how this happened but you have enough to worry about. I am sure that this will be sorted soon even though your husband will need to mend.
By all means update later when you have a moment.

Bryan could you follow the template and enter your information in the checkpoints that you were in. If it was only Checkpoint Four - that is OK - that is this thread.
Here are the basic information that I need: (for CHECKPOINTS 1 - 6)
Name of Book and Author: (do full citation) if it is more than one book - do all citations
Genre: Indicate genre or genres
Number of Pages Read - Start Page and Finish Page for this four hour period. (Self Explanatory)
Don't forget the proper citation - just do the best you can and we will assist you.
How much time did you read: If you read for the full four hours - say that or whatever portion you read
Did you complete any books - name of book and author (post the citation and tell us if you finished any books - yes or no
What time zone and location are you in: (here you would put Virginia and put Eastern Standard Time or EST (Virginia - EST)
OK after you do the above on this thread and any other checkpoints that you read in - (they are four hour segments of the 24 hours - meaning that there were 6 of them you could have read in)
Then you have to check OUT - no matter if you read in one segment or all six. - THERE IS A DIFFERENT TEMPLATE FOR CHECKOUT - TALLIES - SEE BELOW
The CHECK OUT THREAD IS HERE:
Checkpoint Seven: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Here is the helpful note that I sent in terms of the template to be used for Checkout - Checkout are your full tallies
Here is a helpful note that I am sending to everyone (just changing the name): - this way folks have a template at their disposal when they do check outs in the future and if they have not done their Check Out for this readathon - this template is a good one to use now:
I have included the link in the note for the Check Out thread:
Thank you - have you done your tallies and checked out? All readathon participants must check out. Here is what Simon did for his checkout and I think this is a pretty compact way of doing your tallies if you have not already done them. This is the MANDATORY CHECK OUT THREAD.

Bryan you are on the wrong thread for checkout (and you have done the checkout template correctly) but make sure it is on Checkpoint Seven which you might have done:
Here is the thread for checkout:

One other thing remember that the checkout template which are the final tallies (Checkout - Checkpoint 7) is not the template used for any of the Check In threads (Checkpoints 1-6). They had a different template.

Please let us know who is reading during these this period of time.
Let us know the following:
Name of Book and Author:
Genre:
Number of Pages Read - Start Page and Finish Page for this four hour period.
Don't forget the proper citation - just do the best you can and we will assist you.
How much time did you read:
Did you complete any books - name of book and author
What time zone and location are you in:
So for example:
The Jewel in the Crown by Paul Scott
If you finished a book - let us know that too and make sure to get it added to your readathon shelf so you can get credit for it. If it is added properly it will show up on your shelf. You have to make sure to have selected a readathon shelf and when you are done with the first book for your readathon - make sure to add the completed date and that the book is read versus currently reading.
It will show up on your shelf if you have done this properly.
Remember wherever you are you can participate in the readathon.
And if you only have one hour or four hours or plan to do this for the entire 24 hour period taking of course breaks for eating and sleeping - you can join for however long you want to read. We want to keep track of the books completed, the books started, the books in progress, the number of pages read by all, and the different genres. Great fun and this is only the first readathon - we will use the same readathon challenge for all of them so you can see your readathon shelves grow.
Additionally these books that you complete on the readathon can be added to other shelves for the Japan or India challenge or the 2015 50 Books Challenge or the goodreads yearly challenge - the sky is the limit. Any genre is welcome.
