Evie runs into the cave.

She pulls an arrow out, and sets it to her bow. She looks down at her Mardi Gra mask, wondering why she had grabbed it.

Garrett and Carina from districts 8 and 9 had teamed up.
They found the cave.
Garrett carefully walked inside as Carina stood outside.

Evie pulled out her bow, "Who goes there?"

He wanted to say something snarky, but didn't. "Garrett. District 8! Just looked for shelter. I am literally unarmed. My ally is outside, she has one axe, that's it."

Evie raised her eyebrows. "Bring her in."

"Uh...hey, Carina? Come here but someone has a bow, don't use the axe."

Carina entered, from District 9. "Oh. Hi?" She greeted Evie.

"Soo..8 and 9...HEY GUYS!!! Garrett, we're same district y'know, but I don't know her.."

"Right! Hi, Evie. I know, she's...an ally, look, I just got out of the bloodbath with my life, and I didn't have the chance to get a weapon, and I ran into her and we formed an alliance because someone, some sponsor, sent me a blanket, so we agreed to team up. She won't freeze and she defends me."

Evie nodded, "Ok. I guess..."

"Thank you."

Carina looked at Evie. "Thanks," she mumbled. "I'm Carina."

"Evie."

She nodded, and the two sat down. "We can split up in the morning if it makes you feel better," she mumbled.

"I don't care."

Carina looked surprised but nodded.

Garret, however, wasn't surprised, knowing Evie from home. "What else did you get?" He asked her.

"Mardi Gra mask."

"Why was that even in there? I don't see a point to it. I mean, I'm sure you'll figure something out, but...I don't know." He shifted the rolled-up blanket to his other arm.

"It'll disguise my face..."

"Yeah, but it'll make you a walking target," Garret insisted. "it's bright. And it doesn't matter who you are, the other tributes will try and kill you, mask or no."

"Yeah...thought it was pretty.." Evie said with a sniff.

"It is," Garrett assured her. "It's just potentially dangerous because it's bright." He frowned for a second. "Idea, though--if it's hard, maybe out it somewhere under your shirt, so if anyone throws a knife it won't kill you."

Evie brightened, "Oh yes!" she said, turning around and stuffing it up her shirt.

"Good," Garrett told her. "Stay alive, I know I have no chance."

Clay crept quietly into the cave, though his plan to hide and heal was fooled when he saw two -no- three other people in the cave. He cursed under his breath and ducked to the side, the only evidence he was there being the smears of blood that both belonged and didn't belong to him.

"Aww, c'mon. You don't know that!" ((Yes you do lol))

"Guys, did you hear something?" Carina asked, silencing Garret and Evie. She tightened her grip on her axe.

Garret looked at Evie and shrugged sadly.

Evie grabbed her bow and arrows, she gives Garrett an arrow, hoping it might help him even though he didn't have a bow, himself.

Clay stilled, holding his breath. From here he could hear their elevated heart-beats in the silence. He almost laughed. I want to rip them out and listen to them scream as their heart beats heavily in my palm. I want to feel their warm, sticky blood on my arms as their intestines get ground into a pulp. His mind snarled, his fingers curling instinctively. His mind swarmed with dark thoughts and he ran his tongue over his teeth, lifting his mask the lick his bloody fingers before setting it back into place.

"Thanks," he told her, and smiled, and then turned and braced himself. He felt the blanket under his arm, and a plan started coming together.
He looked at Evie. "If I can manage to...to suffocate him with this, maybe that could help?" He grimaced.
