Sadie’s sister Saffron also seems unperturbed by her death. Did you ever suspect that she played a part in Sadie’s death?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments She was my first suspect. I was surprised by her reaction that she was more concerned about her school activities than her sister's death. She comes off as heartless. Of course, as more information is revealed, she isn't as heartless as she appears.

Jo Ann (jojog) | 104 comments Definitely! She seemed so cold and aloof.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Yes, I thought it was her for a large part of the book. It was a plot device by the author making her seem to be cold and heartless about her sister's death. (But the ending does give a credible reason why this was so.. but we didn't have that information till right at the end!)

Lisa, I didn’t think it was a plot device as much as it was a real part of the story. What looked like disinterest and lack of care was actually her own defense mechanism to deal with her own pain. It came out in her music when she knew Eric was watching and listening. Until that moment, I thought she might have something to do with Sadie’s death. After this scene, I knew she was more complicated.

I didn't pick up on that, good point about the music.

Great insight. I didn't pick up on her music and Eric. I thought it was a teenage competition thing.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments Saffie was one of my suspects at first. As we learned about the clubs and Lorraine Peters, she dropped off of my radar.

Lynn (ftbooklover) I agree with those of you who said that she seemed too unaffected by her sister's death. When I learned of her connection to the secret societies, I also thought that it has something to do with that.
