Dawson interviews parents of former students who left the school before their terms were complete and discovers a chilling pattern of deadly hazing incidents. Given that Sadie wasn’t part of the secret society, what did you think was going on at this point? Was the administration part of the problem, was this completely controlled by the students or some combination of both?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments Dawson's interviews turned me away from the students and looking to faculty or a combination of students, parents, and faculty. I still thought there was a vendetta against Sadie, but I couldn't wrap my head around why.

Jo Ann (jojog) | 104 comments This got me thinking the kids stumbled into something that happened between some of the parents years a ago...but how did Sadie fit into that picture? Did she know something important without even realizing it.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Dawson's investigation steered towards the feeling that kids that didn't stack up were removed from the school. There definitely seemed a conspiracy by past and current Card members to control what happened in the School and after it. It was like a cult.

I agree with all of you. This is when I began to understand this was much bigger than the school grounds, that the Society was operating in the real world and controlled by adults. I veered away from the kids at this stage. No way could all of this be perpetrated without adult sanction.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I couldn't figure out a reason that Sadie was targeted, but I thought one of the clubs had targeted her. After learning about the previous hazing incidents, I considered that the former members (parents, faculty) were in control of the clubs. But, it still didn't help me figure out why Sadie was killed.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 9269 comments Mod
I couldn’t figure that out either.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I couldn't figure it out either. I didn't focus on an adult until late.

~Teresa At this point I decided the parents were all over these clubs making decisions and pulling strings. There was too much of a coincidence that this being a “for life” club kept being talked about for the parents not to be involved to a large degree.

Good deductions, Teresa!

Lynn (ftbooklover) At this point, I didn't see the connection to the original murder.
