Proust : infuriating, annoying, cloying, argumentative, self-serving, yet the most satisfying-- if not, the best author, ever.

I was often annoyed, irritated and sometimes furious at Proust, when reading "À la recherche du temps perdu\Remembrance of Things Past", often, to point of thinking of abandoning my reading. Yet, I read on, and when I finished the last book, I was aware that I had read what could possibly be the best fiction work ever written. For a year after I finished the cycle, I couldn't get "into" any other work of fiction. I dropped many books during that period. All I could read was works about Proust and his work. I am still obsessed by that cycle of seven books. And very happy that have read it all! It is to this day, one of the best, and happiest things I have done with my life.
