FAQs
How do I know if a book counts?
» A book counts if it is finished between the challenge dates! It must also fulfill one prompt.
What is a unique book? What's the point?
» If another team has already chosen that book for the same prompt, then that book is NOT unique.
» The goal of reading "unique books" is to open you up to a lot new books.
If another team chose the same book, but it was for a different prompt and/or task, is the book still unique?
» Yes! As long as there are no book repeats for the prompt, the book is "unique."
How do I know if a book is unique?
» Look at other teams' book logs. If they already logged that same book for the same prompt, then they have a unique book.
What happens if two or more teams pick the same book for the same prompt? What if both teams say they chose a "unique book"?
» The team that logged the book first will get the unique book point. The second team will not.
How do I know if a book is a BOTM or a buddy read?
» If the book you chose was a BOTM for this group, past or current, then you can count that as a BOTM book.
» If you and another member on your team would like to read a book together, then you can count that as a buddy read book.
How do points work for buddy reads?
» If you decide to do a buddy read with more than one teammate, you can earn 2 additional points for each buddy. For example, if you did a buddy read with 1 person, you get 2 additional points. If you did a buddy read with 2 other people, you get 4 additional points.
If multiple people participate in a buddy read, does everyone log the book? Or does only one person do that?
» Only one person may log the book. Do not have every buddy log the book.
How long do the reviews have to be?
» Reviews can be any length, as long as they are an "actual review." The review must include the your opinion. Reviews should be at least a paragraph (or a couple sentences or bullet points).
Why are there so many tasks and prompts? How do you expect us to complete them all?
» We reached 50 members. Therefore, there are 25 tasks, for a total of 50 prompts.
» You will be working as a team to read as many books as possible. Plus, you have 50 days to complete the tasks. Thus, I think it's quite feasible to complete most, if not all, of the tasks.
Can mods participate? If so, why? Doesn't that give them an advantage?
» Yes, mods can participate! Being a mod is not an advantage. Everyone has equal access to the rules, the scoring, the challenge tasks, and anything else important. Thus, I see no problem with allowing mods to participate.
What happens if I do not check in?
» If you do not check, it will be assumed that you no longer wish to participate. You must check in with your team in your team's respective chat thread in order to be officially a member of that team. You must also read at least one book!
