RULES
✧ Members will be broken out into up to 3-4 separate teams (or go solo option) before the start date (June 1st). You will work together to complete a series of tasks together and complete as many of them as you wish.
✧ Books must be read and reviewed during June 1st through July 31st Any books or audiobooks started before June 1st or finished after July 31st will not count.
✧ If you read an Audiobook version of a book convert the hours to pages using this site: https://alamantus.itch.io/time-to-page or use the print equivalent on Goodreads.
✧ Graphic/Manga novels are accepted but will only count for half of the listed page count
✧ You must post at least 3 status updates OR a review. It doesn't have to be super detailed but try to not just say "this was good" for the book to count.

LINKS TO SPREADSHEET AND DISCORD
To help track your team points, strategize and communicate, we've created individual team spreadsheets and team discord channels. Please note that the mods will not be checking either of these unless we are asked. Also, huge huge huge shout-out to Selina, who created the original team spreadsheet, taught us how to be amazing at excel, and is amazing herself, and also to Mina, who did a lot of the legwork in adapting it to team use. Any errors within it are mine—please let me know if you spot anything wonky.

message 7: by Leah (new)

Leah Hester | 66 comments Hello everyone!! So excited to get started! Also- should it come up- I'd love to do a buddy/group read this year! I didn't get to last challenge I was in. Will be going through my list too! :D

message 8: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 330 comments I'm interested in BR as well

message 9: by Brianna (new)

Brianna C | 1248 comments So I already went through and picked books I would read for each of the prompts. I obviously won't be reading that many books, but if there is a prompt that everyone is struggling with or we need to complete a category - I have an option already. lol I want to participate in a few other challenges so I don't have a TBR picked just yet, other than the following two books:
The Eyre Affair (Thursday Next, #1) by Jasper Fforde Good Girl, Bad Blood (A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, #2) by Holly Jackson

Once it is closer to June and I have more of my TBR fleshed out, I will share. I enjoyed the buddy read I participated in this month and am looking forward to doing more!

message 10: by aikaterine (new)

aikaterine (missaikaterine) | 347 comments I'm also up for buddy reads!
And Good Girl, Bad Blood (A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, #2) by Holly Jackson has been in my TBR for sooo long, so if you'd like we could buddy read it :)

message 11: by Trip (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) | 29 comments Oh i love a buddy read! Shall definitely keep an eye out and see closer to start. I havent picked anything yet, as have other challenges to wait and see - what fits, but shall probably sort next weekend 😊

message 12: by Abigail (last edited May 22, 2021 07:33AM) (new)

Abigail | 210 comments Hi team!!

I'll try to put up the nightmare of a possible tbr I'm making tonight.

Otherwise, I already posted kinda planned reads in the buddy reads nomination thread. They are Ana on the Edge, Brave Face, These Witches Don't Burn (and This Coven Won't Break), We Are the Ants, Dreadnought (and Sovereign), Tell Me How You Really Feel, I'll Give You the Sun, One Last Stop if anyone is interested.

Also with the graphic novel/manga page count at 100 page minimum, I believe that fits most manga so does anyone want to buddy read some manga with me? I don't really have any in mind but am looking for suggestions.

Awesome! :)
Would you like to read it through the 11th or 12th perhaps? It has 43 chapters so it equals to 5 or 6 chapters per day.
Would you like us to go slower or faster?

Brianna C | 1248 comments So I'm very much a planner so I went through the tentative plans that we have shared so far and indicated below how many books are planned for each prompt. It looks like we should be able to easily finish the Atari Affair category!

Let me know if you want me to divide it where the prompts that no one has books planned are pulled out to see easier.

THE CHALLENGES
prompts completed: 29 | 30

laurel [the suspected bibliophile] (laurelthereader) The Summer Games begin June 1st (which is tomorrow or now, depending on where you are in the world)!

I hope you are all ready to read, and that you have a wonderful time!

My availability will be limited these first few days since I'm in the middle of moving, but Althea, Aless and Mina are here to answer any questions you may have.

It looks like you've already found this out, but here are some pro-tips:
-Buddy Reads are your money makers, particularly if you BR within your group and pick a book that can be used for several prompts
-You can complete a category multiple times
-Group Reads are also a fantastic way to get extra points—don't forget to participate in our thread!
-And have fun! That's the most important thing about our team games, because in the end the points don't matter, what's important are the friends you make along the way.

If it works for you, I'd love to start the buddy reads on sea of monsters! I still have to read the lightning thief so let me know when you want to start sea of monsters and I'll try to read it by then. I'll buddy read all the books from sea of monsters onward with you, if that works. Do you want to do 3 day per book? Or is that not enough time?
