Recently, many celebrities boycotted the Golden Globes for racism, sexism and lack of transparency. What do you think about this?

Shawna Finnigan (sugoishawn) | 121 comments I wasn't really aware of this. I feel like I'm always behind on learning the news about award shows but I'm glad that celebs are boycotting the event. Big celebs boycotting the event might mean the event gets less views which will cause them to hopefully change the problematic parts of their company/event.

I also always feel slightly weird/uncomfortable when watching award shows. They have best actress and best actor categories a lot, but what about non-binary actors?? And award shows are very centered on English speaking films when there are so many amazing films being produced in other languages.

A lot of big celebs like Tom Cruise and Scarlett Johnasson are boycotting the awards. And yes, I agree about the lack of representation of non binary artists. Awards should scrap their system of categorizing by gender, because it's leaving out great actors who don't identify as male or female.

And yeah, films in languages other than English aren't given much focus. There's usually just one award for an "international film", but no more.
