In the open source LARA project, we create multimodal versions of texts to make it easier for people to read books in foreign languages. Usually this includes recorded audio.
But what makes a voice a good model to listen to when you're trying to improve your language skills? If you're interested in helping answer this question and have ten minutes to spare, go to this page, where you'll be asked to listen to a series of phrases read by two different voices and say which one you prefer. There are versions in Danish, English, Farsi, French, Icelandic, Italian, Mandarin, Spanish and Swedish: do the language you know best, or more than one if you decide you like it! People with experience of language teaching are particularly welcome. The results will be presented at the EUROCALL 2021 conference in August.
