Magic realism is a style of fiction and literary genre that paints a realistic view of the modern world while also adding magical elements, often deals with the blurring of the lines between fantasy and reality. Magical realism often refers to literature in particular, with magical or supernatural phenomena presented in an otherwise real-world or mundane setting. Despite including certain magic elements, it is generally considered to be a different genre from fantasy because magical realism uses a substantial amount of realistic detail and employs magical elements to make a point about reality, while fantasy stories are often separated from reality. Magical realism is often associated with Latin-American literature. Famous magical realism authors inclue: María Luisa Bombal, Gabriel García Márquez, Isabel Allende, Jorge Luis Borges, Juan Rulfo, Miguel Ángel Asturias, Elena Garro, Mireya Robles, Rómulo Gallegos, Arturo Uslar Pietr, Salman Rushdie, Alice Hoffman, Nick Joaquin, Nicola Barker, Haruki Murakami, and Olga Tokarczuk. It's one of those "classics" that everyone should read (maybe?) I gave it four stars because of the writing and I think it is an important book. As far as personally enjoying it, I would probably have given it less stars if I just based it on that. ( Just a disclaimer about my rating - lol )

I did like Ultima as a character :)
