Welcome to the The Memory Police Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on June 15th and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each day we will be reading by chapters or page numbers. Page numbers are an approximation based on the hardcover or paperback that is the default on Goodreads. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:

So far so good 😂 Although I made some mistakes, but people correct me so that's good. This month I wasn't as prepared but I'll be ready for July BRs.

Excited to start this one tomorrow!

Finished the first 7 chapters and quite enjoying. It is such an interesting world, I'm not sure that I fully understand the details of the disappearing or why it needs to be enforced but it is a bit sad to considering losing so much. The main character seems quirky and nice, proper and polite though.

This is in the book description so not a spoiler but I'm a bit surprised that the MC took in her publisher. How long does she intend to keep him? The poor man can not stay hidden forever. I feel so bad for his wife and new baby as well.

I absolutely love the old man but so so on the MC though her language can be beautiful. What do you make of the story within the story?

Totally agree. Not sure why all of this is happening. Interesting premise for sure. Just got to the part of the book where she takes in the publisher (chap 11). Will update when I get to chapter 14.

So I'm pretty unhappy with (view spoiler)[ R and the young lady having sex. I mean his wife just had his baby and is managing parenthood without him. I know it is judgmental of me and they are living in an intense situation but I don't like either of them justifying this as okay. (hide spoiler)]

Otherwise things are looking pretty grim. I really have no idea as to how this will end up.

I enjoyed reading this book, but had to think too much towards the end. Way to cerebral for me. Very metaphorical. Didn't like the ending.

The ending was super weird. Really not what I expected and not sure I loved the ending either. Glad to try it though.
