August 2021 Legends Group Read Nominations

The nominations are open till June 26th.

Each person is allowed one nomination. Only Star Wars Legends books are allowed. Please include (and preferably link to) the title and the author in text.

If you want to nominate book that is part of a series, it has to be book 1 or you have to explain why it could be read as a stand-alone or it has to be another installment of the series that's already been picked for previous Group read. If there's too many books nominated we'll cap at first 7 books. If there is fewer than 5 nominations mods can nominate additional books.

Nominate only books you're willing to read. If your nominee wins you're expected to participate in the discussion.

I'd like to nominate Secrets of the Jedi by Jude Watson

I nominate Fatal Alliance by Sean Williams. I tried to read this a few years ago and was not ready. I feel it is time for me personally. I know a few members have already read it, recently, but perhaps we have a few that are also ready to delve into it.

I nominate Leia, Princess of Alderaan by Claudia Gray. I have the hardcover and have been wanting to get to it some time.

Melina, I'm sorry but this is a Legends Group reads. If I'm not mistaken, Leia PoA is a canon book.

Yes, there should be at least 4 books altogether.

You might suggest another book, Don. I can't guarantee we will pick it but it's worth a try.

As for canon group reads, these are chosen by mods. It's not easy to get a particular canon book from my local library and some of them are still quite expensive. For Legends GR I don't mind buying a Kindle copy to build up my Legends collection, with Canon books I'm more picky.

We've already read two Claudia Gray's book this year. But this one is on my tbr, too. Anyway I don't plan it for our GR sooner than this winter.

If it saves the moderators a little time and effort, then I'll submit for nomination Jeter's 1998 Rebellion era book, The Mandalorian Armor . It has no comic or game tie-ins. Just a novel about Boba Fett and Dengar and their exploits and machinations. It is book one of a trilogy called The Bounty Hunter Wars.
