THE ONE was very good - it is a mystery/thriller but then so much more than that. I doubted the premises, but the reader can determine for themselves whether they believe in the business that surrounds the story.

Ellie has done research and found a gene that can determine your soulmate; your true love match. She runs the world-wide company where millions send in their DNA samples and are provided with the name of their match. If they are lucky, their match is within their generation where they can marry and have children, but there is no guarantee. If you are determined to have no match, either they did not send in their DNA, the person is from another era and not living. Your match can be the same sex as you are (surprise) or not.

The stories of the people that found their match in the book are all controversial. The best is when Ellie herself decides to put her DNA in the pool to see if she does have a match.

I really liked this one and had a hard time putting it down. Apparently it is now a TV show. Enjoy!

I've had this one on my radar for a while- I didn't realize it was the origin of the Netflix show that keeps popping up with a similar plot.

I need to bump this one up on the list!
