Insiyah (insiyahxo) | 0 comments Hi :)

I'm planning on reading quite a few ebooks for the challenge. I wanted to clarify the page count. The ebooks I'm reading have a page count on their page (eg. Modern Lovers). Do I still need to use the page count from the mass market/paperback/hardcover edition?

Thanks :)

yes, you must follow the rules.

If you read an ebook, or audiobook use the page count for the mass market paperback if one exists. If there is no mass market paperback edition, use the paperback edition and if no paperback is available use the hardcover edition.

>If there are multiple editions in a format:
From the editions page (click all editions on the main book page)
Set the Format, beginning with Mass Market Paperback
Set the Sort By as "num ratings"
Use the top edition result to determine the page number for ebooks and audiobooks
If there are no editions in MMPB, reset with Paperback and the same sort (num ratings). If there are no paperback editions, reset with Hardcover and the same sort (num ratings). If there are no print editions the ebook or audiobook may not be used for a task requiring a page number

> If the sort results in a Large Type edition at the top omit that book and move to the next record or format.

> If the sort results in an edition in a language other than English the edition SHOULD be used to establish length.

> If you have any questions about which edition should be used to establish page count please ask for a ruling by a moderator in the season's General Questions Help Thread

8. Using ebooks
If no print edition of a book exists on Goodreads, you MUST get the book pre-approved by a moderator in the topic "eBook verification-no print edition" in General Help.

ebooks without print editions cannot be used for tasks requiring a specific number of pages. ebooks can be used for specific page number tasks as long as there is a print equivalent that can be used to determine page numbers- see #7 above. ebooks without print equivalents can be used for tasks without specific page requirements, since it is usually possible to "guesstimate" from the word count that a book is at least 100 pages long.

If you claim a book in Completed Tasks without a print edition, you MUST provide a reference to the ebook verification document when you post. ex."Approved @ line #" or provide the post number in the ebook verification thread where it was approved ex. "ebook Approved post #"
