Barbara I get a kick out of "recommended for you" on streaming sites and book sites. They seem to be working on some weird algorithms that are off base, taking something I've read or watched and using it as a basis for a recommendation for something that's a 180.
I just got a recommendation, that because I liked the Complete Annotated Sherlock Holmes, I will probably like Tom Wolfe's "The Right Stuff." Now what kind of algo sees thatI I like a Victorian and Edwardian detective series and decides I want to read a late 20th century tale about US astronauts?n I mean I love the Sherlock Holmes stories and I like a lot of Tom Wolfe but I'm not seeing the connection here.
