aspiring authors discussion

So. . . I made a corner. BIG SURPRISE, right? Well, actually, not. It's just so much like me. Well, I'm working on a Middle-Grade Fantasy. While I won't be putting all my work here, there will be quite a few chunks that can give you a good idea of what is happening. If you want to read the whole thing, I have a writing group that you can find through my profile.

Other than that, my writing life is going pretty good! I passed two levels of a competition and will be published soon in 9-10 months. I still don't believe it!

I'm also on break till Monday so I probably won't see if you comment. Though I'll try to sneek in a few checks.

Well, that's all I have to say for now.

Ella couldn't believe what she saw next. White light surrounded her. It swirled and turned and twisted, creating beautiful patterns in the air. It reminded Ella of a cyclone. Unlike a cyclone, though, this was Magic. It was beautiful. The white mass was interrupted with colored streaks as orange, red, green, blue, and other colors took their place. Ella felt light burning around her, and her feet lifted off the ground. Suddenly, the light melted away and she began to fall.

Extract 2 from Chapter 1
Things are getting heated

He led Ella out of the door. Instead of the room of doors, they found themselves in a corridor. It seemed never-ending on the right side. Albion turned left and headed up the corridor to a staircase. He stepped up onto the second one and motioned to Ella to step up on the first one.
"To the heart," he said. The staircase creaked and Ella grabbed onto the banister. She looked over it and realized that the entire staircase was moving. The motion stopped and Ella quickly opened the door at the bottom and stepped inside. Albion followed. As soon as the door was closed, he snapped his fingers and held up his hands. Bright light emitted from it. Flashes and swirls surrounded her. Slowly the light dimmed and disappeared. The first thing Ella noticed was that three strange girls had appeared beside her. They were in random positions. The one beside her was sitting on the floor, looking around in surprise. The one farthest from her had stopped mid-walk and was staring at the Merelve with her mouth open. The third one had her hand up as if she were holding an imaginary book. She was blinking at it.

HA, poor girls

Yeah totally!

So, I’m going to be recording and posting my experience with the writing for the short story collection. I was hesitant and first with all that privacy stuff which is super important BTW. But I decided that since all of you are what keep me going I will post it. Throughout my life., I’ve learnt to filter in every situation so I don’t think privacy is a big worry. :)

"Relax!" Alice assured. "Your stick is disguised as a bracelet. Look!" Alice turned her own stick over in her hands and whispered, 'Bracelet'. The stick disappeared in a sphere of green light which melted away to reveal the bracelet. "Try it!" Brynne said.
Ella twirled the stick in her hands before wondering what to change it into. She said the first thing that came to mind. "Toaster!" This time, the stick was swallowed by white light. A white toaster with an additional button on the front landed in her hands.

Extract from Chapter 3

"Whatcha doing?" Brynne asked groggily.
"Nothing! You can go back to sleep!" Ella said, a stupid grin plastered across her face.
A huge rumble rang through the forest, shaking the ground.
"What's that?" Ella shouted over the din, almost falling face-first onto the ground.
"I don't know!" Brynne yelled, leaping up.
"Train?"
"What?" Claire shouted.
"Train!"
"We don't have trains!" she scrambled to Alice. "Get up!"
Alice's eyes widened in fear. "What. . .?"
"Look!" Ella pointed at the ground. Large spider-web cracks were forming across it.
Brynne stared at them in shock. "We need the prophecy!"
"We'll have to come back here later!" Claire shouted.
"What if there is no *here* left?"
Alice pointed at the ground with her stick and the rumbling slowly stopped.
"All taken care of!"
