Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I am still amazed that each new book we read in this series is as unique and intriguing as the first. I love these characters and the way the are developing. As much as we know now, there is still more to reveal.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I thought this book was another winner. The team was dealing (or not dealing) with their grief over Dawson, while working two tough cases. I think we learned something about each team member in this book, even the new guy.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I liked Penn the last time he made an appearance. I believe he will add a lot to the series.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments l like him too. He is dropping everything to be there for his family when they need him. He's also very sharp and will fit in well with this team.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Very well crafted book. Still can't believe that the team weren't supported more by the Police Department. They were dealing with such a traumatic incident in their lives, interesting how they all handled it or not handled it in individual ways.

Penn will be a great asset to the team, the circumstances in this book showed that. It would be so difficult coming in as the replacement for a much loved team member. Especially under the tragic cirumstances.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree Lisa. Penn will be a great addition to the group.

It is a little mini-study in dealing with grief. Everyone is different and handles it in a way that gets them through the day/week/month/year.

I thought it was an excellent portrayal of the many ways people handle guilt and the effects on others around them. I echo what you’ve all stated.

I like Penn, especially his gentle tolerance of their behavior. It shows incredible insight on his part.

Lynn (ftbooklover) I'd been very skeptical at the end of Dying Truth (D.I. Kim Stone, #8) by Angela Marsons that killing off one of the main characters was the way to go in this series, and I still think there were more things that could have been developed through Dawson, but the emotional journey the other three team members went on in this book and the addition of Penn definitely moved this series forward in a very positive way. Bring on the next one.
