Nominations for July 2021 Group Read

Apparently named as the greatest crime novel of all time by the British Crime Writers' Association in 1990.

I have An Island Garden by Celia Laighton Thaxter and Japanese Inn by Oliver Statler waiting for July. So for a nomination, I'll go for the shorter An Island Garden.
@Karen,
I couldn't find An Island Garden among the books listed in James' Book, although I see it's in our group bookshelf: it was mentioned in one of the newsletters (the 7th one). For this very reason I'd suggest to pick, for our main readings, only the books from the original list; we can organize buddy readings for all the others. What do you all think about this idea?
As for me, I'd suggest a well-known book, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.

No worries, @Karen! 😉
I think those books deserve some attention, too!
Thanks to your previous message I've noticed that the "Books from Newsletters" section should be updated: I'll do it as soon as possible and, if you all agree, once this is done, I think it would be a great idea if each month we'll have a "Co-Read", alongside the "Main' one, for those books, with its nominations and its polls.
So, double thanks!
Should I consider Japanese Inn for your nominations or do you wish to pick another book?

Thank you for your patience, @Karen!
@James,
The Bookshelf of this Group is an extensive list: it includes both the Original List of books (the ~"1,000 books" mentioned in the title) and some (*) of the ones mentioned in the newsletters sent by James Mustich every couple of weeks.
((*) This should be updated: there are lots of books missing.)
You can find the Original List on James' Mustich webpage, where each book has its own description, or on listchallenges.com; there, the "print" tab shows you the complete list of ~1000 (original) books, sorted by author. Finally, my "Authors-vs-Birthdays" spreadsheet is based only on the Original List.
I hope I've made things clearer. ☺️

As always, any non-read book from the List can be chosen; if you'd like to pick a work by someone whose birthday fell in July, here's a spreadsheet with the authors listed by month of birth.
We have 7 days for our nominations; let's get started!
