Yvonne | 126 comments I gave this 4 stars because I enjoyed the comedy and the approach to how the story was told. It was a quick read that kept me interested in what would happen next and kept me wondering why Bernadette is so quirky.
There are multiple narrators that tell their own piece of the story, and much of the story is told through their emails, news articles, documents. There is a sadness to the story too, but overall, it is quite funny as it presents the world and people around Bernadette, and some crazy events that are bizarre enough to be fun to read, but realistic enough to relate to the characters and events.
The book was made into a movie in 2019, which I'll now have to go find. (Although the movie only got moderate reviews.)

Jessica (vividomestic) I just finished this one, too! Not many books make me actually laugh out loud, but this one did. So funny! I want to check out the movie, too. I'm curious to see what the house looks like in the movie.

Amy | 12915 comments I remember liking this one at the time too, although I haven't felt the same about the author's other books.

Yes, Jessica, I definitely would like to see how they portrayed that old school/house, and her "Twenty Mile House" also sounded very interesting! I realize the book sort of reminds me of the Series of Unfortunate Events books that I read with my kids many years ago!
