I recently heard a podcast episode with the topic of séances in golden age mysteries and Peril at End House was mentioned as "memorable" book using this trope.

maybe Se'ance for October?

"Back to school" (as in "school *and / or* university) sounds great!

That sounds like an interesting podcast, Shaina. Can you send me in that direction?
I agree that "seance" would be a good theme at some point!

Christine, the podcast is called "shedunnit" by Caroline Crampton https://shedunnitshow.com/
I love this podcast! I have learned so much about Golden age mysteries and real life crime on which many of these books are based from the show.
I hope you enjoy this podcast.

Initially, my thought was "mystery set on the English coast" because that fits in with our September Christie, Peril at End House.
However, our August side read is the short story anthology Resorting to Murder: Holiday Mysteries, so maybe that theme is too similar?
Another suggestion was "superstition" as the theme for our September side read. We are going to be reading one of Ngaio Marsh's "theatrical" murders in October, which ties in nicely with Lord Edgware Dies.
September is also known as "back to school" month, at least in the US, so another possible alternative theme could be "set in a school," either secondary or university.
Or, we could come up with something entirely different! Thoughts?
