Funny enough, I'm just starting Swan Song from McCammon for July, and since it is often compared to The Stand, it will be interesting to tackle these two epics on back to back months.
Mike, I’m considering the audio version too this time around :) I’m dying to read Swan Song!! After reading and loving Boy’s Life I need more Mccammon in my life. Let me know your thoughts when you’re done!
I’m also going to try and get my hands on the audio for this one. King tends to be dense and audio makes it fly by.

Ahhh I need to get my hands on it! I'm glad you loved it!

Hey everybody!
We will be starting our read of The Stand in a few days! I just wanted to let everyone know that for the discussion breakdown I am using this edition: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
I still did the breakdowns by chapter like I always do, but I figured I'd mention which edition I referenced because I know some older editions of this book are shorter. Hopefully it's not a problem for us lol. Anyway, I'm so excited to revisit this story with you all!

I'm glad you loved it! I'm going the audiobook route this time, so I'm glad to hear it's a good one! Feel free to join in the chat if you'd like. I know since you just read it last summer you likely aren't ready for a reread LOL

This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death.
And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides or are chosen. A world in which good rides on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abigail and the worst nightmares of evil are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man.
We start The Stand on August 1st :)
