John (johnred) | 364 comments EDIT: I am recycling this thread to talk about a new book -- see 3 posts below :)

(original post follows)

Doomsday Book by Connie Willis

I've never really looked at this book before, but I was checking it out yesterday and I realized:

1. It sounds really good
2. It's a chunkster!

I have read one Willis before (Passage) and I wasn't thrilled with it, but I also wasn't disappointed enough that I wouldn't give her another chance. Would anybody be interested in a buddy read anytime soon?

message 2: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I only just read it a few months ago so I'm not ready for a re-read. However, I can say that it is one hell of a fun story. It's mixed with bad things, too, but I love that book. I hope you have fun.

Laurel Bradshaw (llawryf) | 40 comments I loved it when I read it years ago, and want to read more by her. I should reread it "someday" but I've got too much going right now.

John (johnred) | 364 comments Hey, so I originally started this thread to see if anyone would be interested in the Doomsday Book, but I kind of lost interest in that -- for the moment, at least...I feel like I'm in the mood for something outer-spacey now.

I think in the next week or so, I might start reading Pandora's Star. It's a hefty thousand or so pages...looks like lots of focus on characters and many sub-plots.

I see it has even gotten a 4 star rating from our own dear moderator Zulfiya :)

I think there are at least a few other Sci-fi fans in the group, would anyone be interested in a buddy read of this book?
