July 2021 Tasks

One Point Tasks

1.1 CELEBRATING SOME JULY HOLIDAYS
Choose one of the following tasks:
BONUS POINT: You can choose a second task.

a. (July 12) National Eat Your JELLO Day
List your favorite Jello flavor, then read a book whose Author's initials FIRST & LAST are in your flavor.

Read a book with someone wearing a swimsuit.

c. (July 6) International KISSING Day
Read a book with a couple kissing on the cover -OR- MPG:ROMANCE (must be on main page)

Read a book with a MPG:SOUTHERN [LIT] (must be on main page)

e. (July 18) NELSON MANDELA International Day
Read a book set in AFRICA. List Country.

1.2 NASA

Read a book set in SPACE or a character is an astronaut.

1.3 4th OF JULY

1.7 (Tessa's Task) TOKYO, JAPAN
The 2021 summer olympics will be held in Tokyo, Japan beginning this month.
* Read a book whose title begins with a letter in TOKYO (Exclude: A, An, The ... so "The Shadow" would begin with 's' and NOT be acceptable)

1.8 FIXER UPPER
Project Manager: AMBER Project: BEDROOM
Choose 1 task

a. Read a book with a bed or other piece of furniture that is traditionally found in a bedroom on the cover (doesn't have to only be in a bedroom ie a chair)

b. When my grandparents home was originally built it did not have a closet in their master bedroom. They used a Cedar Armoire.
Read a book with an author's first and last initial is in the word ARMOIRE.

c. The average master bedroom size is between 200 and 300 sq ft. Read a book with a 2 or 3 in the page count.

2.1 WHEEL OF FORTUNE

2.2 SUMMER OLYMPICS
Read 2 Books

1. July 13, 1908
On this day, for the 1st time in the modern Olympics WOMEN were able to compete.
Read a book that is a DEBUT novel written by a woman.

2. July 18, 1976, Nadia Comanici scores the first PERFECT 10 in Olympic Gymnastics.
Read a book that is 10th is a series. (List series) -OR- MC first name initial is in NADIA and their Last name initial is in COMANICI.

2.3 (Bethany's Task) CELL PHONE COURTESTY MONTH
Courtesy: a polite speech or action, especially one required by convention.
Read 2 books:
1. Read a book in which the characters have to rely on formal mannerisms or a specific code of conduct. Briefly explain.
2. Read a book set after the invention of cell phones (1973).

2.4 (Susan's Task) BURN WITH ME
Read 2 Books

Read books with BURN in the title
-Or- books with a FIREFIGHTER on the cover (show cover)
-Or- books with the words "BURN", "FIREMAN", or "FIREFIGHTER" in a sentence (list sentence, page)

Three Point Task

3.1 (Bethany's Task) BARBERSHOP MUSIC APPRECIATION DAY (July 13th)
Barbershop music is a style known for singing four-part harmony without instrumental accompaniment.
For this challenge you will choose a book from three of the four voice parts to make up the rest of your quartet:

TENOR: This is the highest vocal part, which sings the harmony. Read a book set above everywhere else (the mountains, an airplane, space) for at least 50% of the book.
LEAD: This part is the most recognizable and most popular. They usually sing the melody (the part everyone knows). Since it's so popular, for this part, read a book at least 2 other group members have read.
BARITONE: This is typically a very challenging part. It is harmony, and this section usually fills in the rest of the chord for the quartet. Read a book that challenges you. Tell how it challenges you.
BASS: This part helps set the beat of the song. They are the backbone of the quartet, and often add a lot of character to the song. Read a book set at or below sea level (at least 50% of the time), OR read a book that has at least one quirky character (describe him or her).
