Historical Romance Book Club discussion

This challenge is meant to help you climb your TBR Mountain and get those books finally read.



This will be a quarterly challenge, with a new theme each quarter. This year our third theme will be Monthly Themes (AGAIN!)

This is flexible and the purpose is to get some books moved from TBR to Read shelf, so have has much fun with this theme as you want:

JULY

I wasn’t really inspired to choose a theme for this month, so I’m saying if you have a title with song lyrics or a pun that you need to get off your list, drop them in honor of July.

AUGUST

Friendship Day is in August, pick a couple friends-to-lovers themed books or some with strong friendships featured from your pile! Apparently it’s also National Marshmellow Toasting Day, so find your mushy heroes and heroines!

It’s also NATIONAL MOUNTAIN CLIMBING DAY on August 1: you know what that means? Bring whatever you want to conquer the quarter. :)

SEPTEMBER
I tagged into international holidays for inspiration here: Pick a steamy read in honor of World Sexual Health Day-or one of my favorite: a sexual tutor like theme.
It’s Bi Visibility Day on the 23rd: Choose a book on your shelf with a bisexual character!




HOW IT WORKS:
1) The first poster will post 5 book titles that they pick from their TBR shelf.

2) The next poster will choose 2 books from the first poster's titles and choose 5 book titles off their own TBR. The first poster will then choose to read at least 1 of the 2 books chosen.

3) The third poster will choose 2 from the second posters list .... and so on.

4) Each participant will have the entire quarter to read their book(s), post their rating and review. And tell us what you think of your book in this thread.

5) You are not limited to 1 time. You can return to select and post more options as often as it suits you.

I have finished reading book 2 . I really enjoyed this book, Hugh who fell in love with his bosses young daughter Jane, who also fell in love with Hugh as a young teenager. Ten years later they meet up again.
( Brothers have a family curse)
I am now reading book 1, Loving the humour in book 1. This is a hate to love story. Also looking forward to book 3.

Dark hero.... Was too cruel..the heroine almost had to die in childbirth for the hero to repent and mend his ways..too much of angst..

I finished once in a blue moon and it was FAB.

I also read Gilded Cage, also fab, even though it didn't get picked this challenge. I will probably read Sept Moon later this month.

I'm all about reading Penelope Williamson's books. I own a number of them (including this one) and have put them on this challenge a couple of time, as well as the BOTM and they never get selected.😔 I also want to read The Passions of Emma asap.

I finally am listening to Last Night's Scandal by Loretta Chase. Kate Reading is a perfect narrator for Chase. Liking it so far.

I have The Companion by E.E. Ottoman downloaded but haven’t started. Looking forward to it though.

I just realized I have got to the end of September for these books so I am not behind! LOL. I thought I was starting my books after the challenge ended 😳

Sam posted a month early last quarter thinking it was the end and I panicked thinking I hadn't finished my second book. It happens to the best of us, Joanna. :-)

I finally posted a review for my first pick (A Scot to the Heart - 4 Stars) and hoping I get my second pick done before the end of the month.

Ok, I have finished both my reads. I enjoyed both - 4 stars all around.

I have started to read my second book In My Wildest Fantasies It has started off to be a nice read.

Well, the sister moon reads were both compulsively readable. I probably give the edge to Once in A Blue Moon, but September Moon was my most satisfying read in a while!!

I ended up reading 4 of the 5 books from the TBR pile, including the two chosen for me. Three of the four were 4 star reads and all were by new authors.

Dangerous - Amanda Quick. 4 stars. I will definitely add her to my list of authors to read more of. I read somewhere that you can't binge read her books as they are all very similar, but if you spread them out they are all quite lovely....

It was Only a Kiss - Shannon Gilmore. 4 stars

My Darling Duke - Stacey Reid 4 stars

Hell Hath No Fury - Annabelle Anders. This was a 3 star read - the first 70% was a bit ordinary, but it was saved by the 5 star ending (and the punishment meted out to one character...). I understand it was her first book, so I am not put off and would probably read more.
