What a great recommendation. It looks as if you are not alone in loving this one!

Brandon Harbeke | 696 comments Title: Skywalker: A Family at War

Author: Kristin Baver

Would you recommend this book? Yes (one of only two five-star publications I read from 2021)

message 5: by Erica (new)

Erica | 1256 comments Title: Blood Heir

Author: Ilona Andrews

This is the first book spun off of an urban fantasy/sci-fi/post-apocolyptic series. (Kate Daniels series) If that's your genre then I definitely recommend.

Would I recommend? Meh, it was a 3 start for me and I read it in January and the only thing I remember is the adorable dog and the canals.

Author: Cicely Tyson
Would you recommend this book? Most definitely. Viola Davis reads her own introduction, and Robin Miles narrates the memoir itself. Beautifully written, and Cicely's humor shines.

message 8: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W | 1823 comments I read Chlorine Sky by Mahogany L. Browne

I would not recommend it. I like the message and the point of the story, but the execution wasn't for me. I usually like novels in verse, but it wasn't working for me this time. I think regular prose would have been a better fit. Also, I wasn't expecting the turn this book took in the last third. It made more of the story come together, but I felt it was from left field when I got to it.

message 9: by Megan (new)

Megan | 481 comments I won a Giveaways copy of this title (it was a hard copy, not an Advanced Reader Edition, so it was officially published when I received it), so I knocked this prompt out back in March (seems like an eternity ago!).

Title: Who Is Maud Dixon?
Author: Alexandra Andrews
Would you recommend this book? If you like wildly twisty cat-and-mouse tales with not-particularly-likeable-but-utterly-compelling protagonists, yes! I thought this was such a fun read and an impressive debut.
