He heads off to the sometimes crazy and anything-but-boring world of Culver Creek Boarding School, and his life becomes the opposite of safe. Because down the hall is Alaska Young. The gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, self-destructive, screwed up, and utterly fascinating Alaska Young. She is an event unto herself. She pulls Pudge into her world, launches him into the Great Perhaps, and steals his heart. Then. . . .

There are no clear instructions for chapter nos. in the book what should we have as the pace? Or let's keep it paceless. You can mention the percentage you read before adding your views, ok?

• If the book's going to make Chip a good friend, I don't care.. he sounds like a manipulative bully to me.

• I understand Miles has never had friends and he's trying here.. but man, he acts like he has sold his soul to these people. Why would he do whatever they say like that!? I hope he stops it.

• Alaska. Oh God. Her funniest story is.. one of her friends honked her boob. And she has a boyfriend. And that's funny and she's super excited to talk about it to her friends. So so excited that she can talk about that in front of a total stranger.

• Can every guy only think about a girl's curves??? How beautiful they are.. ok, you told me as soon as your eyes landed on her, she's the hottest girl on the whole fuckin' planet but I don't need the details pleaseeeee. That's too uncomfortable. (hide spoiler)]

I think Alaska should decide whether she wants to live or die. She throws away lines like the first one, and people don't even call her out? Not "call her out" but since she's your friend and she's saying stuff like that.. I would panick! I would try to know what's going inside that head of hers... And now she's saying this second dialogue, so I guess she's quitting smoking..... Because babe you smoke to die, no?

these lines are so true. i mean stop for a second and read them again. aren't they true? we use the future to escape the present....

and it's not that easy to decide whether one wants to live or die! and she's saying stuff like that ... because she always do that. and her friends don't ask her anythin... well maybe they should. but she won't tell her. they already know that.

...I love alaska because she's moody, unpredictable, broken,...is looking for answers and i just love her. and trust me i never use the word love just like that.

Yeah they are true and maybe you read these lines first time in this book, but honey, it ain't original. Alaska is not a poetic person and those lines neither suit her nor relate with what she said earlier. And if she's poetic, then she sure doesn't act like it. People have different ways of dealing with thier shit, Alaska is all over the place. I am having a hard time understanding her and I can change my mind if she helps me..

Well.. living is the obvious choice for a normal person. And if you have been through a lot of shit, a person who chooses to live >>> a person who wants to die. Well.. my father is a closed off person, one day he comes back from office and says that I am starting smoking today and I want to die of lung cancer.. 1) he won't even say that if he doesn't want to talk about it. 2) even if he doesn't we.. his family and all his friends won't just let him be. That.. is a problem. With her friends and herself because she's friends with them just for the fun of it. Understanding is important, trust is also important.. "talking" is emotionally and scientifically proven medicine.

40% : I had kept my pace really slow all this time in hopes that the plot would get better, but I don't see that happening and I have pretty much figured out the carachters. (I didn't like the Colonel at the start, but now I can see that time he was just all himself.. he doesn't have enough courtesy to be patient with a new comer, he's all go go go! But now I am fine with it.) So, I am gonna zoom from here on..

• I forgot the page no. I left my book at and I am not reaching for it again, but most probably "1 day before" chapter is the next.

• So her mom died like that. Ok... Honestly it was quite shocking to me. Not the fact that ok-my-god her mom has died, how horrible, protect my baby.. nope. It would be a shock that any human would feel when they hear of such moment of vulnerability. I knew her mother had died (I don't know where I heard that maybe someone's review) but the fact that it happens that way.. Although, Alaska doesn't win the round. She lacks the emotions when she tells the story. She's talking about it for the first time, I guess.. it's understandable that she's numb. But.. she must have planned to tell the truth in her head. She could have easily lied, Alaska is definitely not afraid of drinking, but I am so pissed that she doesn't tell me how she feels about it and no one fuckin' questions her! They are acting like it happens everyday your dies in front of you and you sit there and your dad blames you for it. I might sympathise with Alaska, poor thing. But her friends!! These pathetic friends!! Ughhhhh

• Miles. Tf is his problem? Ever since he arrived Culver Creek he is acting like "girls", "female" are new species and OH GAWD all of them look yummy!! He's shy, he doesn't makes moves so you can't call him a player or whatever but till now, sex and kisses are the only things filled in his head and why am I so lucky to read about ALL OF IT! (only mr. Byrd? takes off his mind from their gorgeous bodies).
